My bad. I thought he only had a year left

Bickell and a 1st for Buff + 50% of his salary retained.

It's laughable even with Bickells salary being retained. Doesn't warrant a response.

Agree - a complete joke. I don't think we trade even two of those guys in a blockbuster trade unless we get some very significant players back.

True. 25-30th overall in a weak draft plus a 4th liner thats overpaid by 2-2.5 million is a slap in the face

You sir, are in the ballpark. Off the top (without checking player credentials) I'd say either of those trades might work well for both teams.

That may have been bogo's value after his rookie year but this season was a major step back. No way do the islanders part with their forward depth for a player they already have in Reinhart.

It was an Islanders fan that proposed it.

Granted, I am completely against Ovie leaving, he takes a lot of flak but it's completely unwarranted IMO as someone who actually watches him play. But here's my offer.

To WPG: Alex Ovechkin

To WSH: Evander Kane + Zach Bogosian

Not sure how WPG fans feel about that, they add arguably the best scorer in the league, get a guy who is extremely exciting to watch, will help sell tickets in a smaller market. WSH on the other hand gets a guy who fills a huge hole on D, give up Ovie which is tough but it opens up room, and get a scoring top line winger to at least try to fill the void left by Ovie's departure.
First, "no" from a hockey perspective. Ovie's a great scorer, but I don't see the Jets building around him at this stage of their development and his career.

Second, maybe you don't realize that the Jets have no problem selling tickets. The ticket prices are in the top 5 in the NHL and they are sold out for years to come with several thousand on a paid waiting list.

Jets' fans don't need the "sizzle" like some markets. We want substance and are willing to wait for a young core to develop, including Kane and Bogosian.

WTF happened to Bogo this year? Just sidetracked (AGAIN) by injuries? I really expected his play to improve, but I didn't get a chance to see a lot of Jet's games to say if he was playing better defensively, and just not putting up offensive #'s because not getting PP time.
Previous coach (Claude Noel) had Bogo on a yoyo between partners and switching back and forth between LD and RD. I think it affected his play. When he was put in a stable pairing with Enstrom he started to play a much more solid game, and then he was injured.

I think that Bogo and Trouba will be the RD anchors for the Jets for many years to come.

Then call me "crazy". I think Ovie is fantastic in one dimension, but maybe one of the most flawed superstars the NHL has seen for some time. There's a reason he drives coaches crazy. With the Jets trying to build around a young core, I'm not sure that bringing in that sort of drama would be a net positive.

But it's a very interesting idea.

Really?

A cap dump and a REALLY late first. That's amazing. Would you take Clarkson + Tor 2nd for any of your good roster players?

I don't like OV but I would definitely make the Kane/Bogo for OV trade.

I did say that I wouldn't be willing to pay the required price to get him to Montréal since we'd be paying a premium for a player that has a risk factor coming with him. He has been regressing and seems to have quite a few issues off the ice.

And when I say centered around Eller, I obviously don't mean it as a one for one type of deal.

I think if any of these guys get dealt it is Buff. He can go for a forward or D, with pick or prospect attached, doesn't matter. Although Kane has the highest value. I still like the look of Kane for Edler and Hansen. Edler helps our D, and with Buf on forward we badly need another proven NHL d-man, and Hansen would fit nicely on our 3rd line. We could do better then that package though, i know. Bogo does not make sense, we would need another D-man back. We can't afford to lose any of our current top 4 D, without bringing one back. If we keep Kane, Buf can go for a top 4 D-man, or a top 9 forward with a pick or prospect attached to both.

From a Panthers perspective, I would trade Kulikov for Byfuglien.
Tallon loves ex-Hawks

Haha yeah right....

If the Jets are lucky they will get a 3rd liner or #5 defenseman, a high 2nd or late 1st and a "project prospect" for Buff.

No team in the league will give you their best prospect and a 1st - not even a deep team like the Hawks that are stacked up front.

Bickell, Hayes and a 1st is more like it.

It doesn't have to be the Hawks but that's the type of package the Jets will get (if they choose to trade Buff).....
