The Tennessean: Preds could start season with shorthanded roster

Quote:
From the Tennessean:

The NHL allows teams to carry 23 players on their rosters during the regular season, but there's a chance the Predators may begin this year with as few as 21.

Predators Coach Barry Trotz said the team may hold on to two goalies, 12 forwards and six defensemen, along with Jamie Allison, who can play both forward and defense.

Trotz generally carries 22 players on his roster, but said the fact the Predators play just five games over the first 15 days of the NHL season may mean the team doesn't need as many bodies around.

Looks like the baby bull's hot start has bumped him up to the second line with Orszagh and Arkhipov - way to go Scott!!!! Hopefully he'll keep it up as the regular season starts

Hamhuis not practicing may force Trotz to send him to Milwaukee to start the season. Looks like Allison is in for now, especially is he's skating as the 2nd pair on defense, Kloucek will eventually take that from him making the lines Kimmo-York, Eaton-Kloucek, and Zidlicky-Allison. Anyone else a little let down so far by Zidlicky?

Is York a go for Oct. 9...or is that still up in the air?

Hamhuis better play really freaking well these last two preseason games or he'll be an Admiral.

Not me, Ray Shero said the coaches were very excited about Zidlicky. They say he has progressed wonderfully. He may start out on the 3rd pairing simply because he's a rook. And then they'll let him work his way up.
