Nice move by Hagg on the PP. Deked a guy, cut towards the slot and got a wrister off that was saved.

Helluva play by Ghost. Intercepted a pass in the dzone, skated puck up ice, drop pass, then got pass back and went behind net for wraparound. Got saved though.

Ghost with a nice wraparound chance at the end of the period. He's looked pretty good so far. Really nice skating, passing, puck moving, and basically everything we expect. He hasn't had much time in the offensive zone though, mostly because the Phantoms forwards aren't that good so it's a lot of one and dones. The one time they did have lot of sustained pressure he was on the bench.

Another rush by Ghost. Got puck behind in his own goal line, made a little deke, rushed puck up length of ice and got off wrister that was saved.

Don't think I've seen a Flyers dman do that in a long time.

Ghost active in offensive zone. Takes puck down low then feeds it out in front of the crease for a good chance.

Shows off his skating a little bit later in that shift but the puck bobbles on him.

They should have just called the game when Joel Rechlicz scored.

Lehigh Valley Phantoms...

Quote:
Note: The American Hockey League team that will play at the new PPL Center in Allentown beginning this fall, played its last game Saturday as the Adirondack Phantoms.

Based in Glens Falls, N.Y. for the last five years, the former Philadelphia Phantoms, the top minor league affiliate of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, will become the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and play in the new multi-purpose arena in downtown Allentown.

Glens Falls, N.Y., sits on the north side of the Hudson River along the northern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, far above where Rip Van Winkle supposedly slept. Some call it "Hometown USA," the title of a book by native poet Michael Cleary, and others call it "Empire City."

In hockey circles, Glens Falls can be called Hockey Town, a reference not just to the Adirondack Red Wings, the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings that played there from 1979 through 1999, but because it's an ingrained part of the community's culture.

"This is a really good area for hockey," said Ron Hextall, the assistant general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers and the general manager of the Adirondack Phantoms, who are moving to the Lehigh Valley to play in Allentown's PPL Center this fall.

"There's snow. There's ice. It's cold. You actually feel hockey here."

So much so that former Adirondack Red Wings coaches Barry Melrose — now a top hockey analyst — and Bill Dineen, also formerly a Flyers coach — still live in the region.

Despite the atmosphere, the Phantoms are moving to the Lehigh Valley from a temporary home in Glens Falls that lasted five seasons from 2009-10 through 2013-14, two years beyond the original time frame.

When the Red Wings played there, they made the playoffs 19 times in 20 seasons and won four AHL titles. The fans were used to seeing winners in the standings.

The Phantoms never made the playoffs during their five-year run in Glens Falls, but people in the region have grown to love the team and will miss it.

I'm so excited that we finally have some prospects that look nice.

Laughton
Akeson
Alt
Hagg
Morin
Cousins
Ghost
Lauridsen

It's a big difference from when our prospects were names like Kalinski.

Let's say USA Hockey is interested in Ghostisbehere about coming to play at WC, is it possible for him to play there? I guess Flyers would have to allow it, right? IMO, It would be great for him to play there and gain new experience against top talent from Europe and bunch of players from NA. Are there any rumours about it?

He would likely be pretty far down the list of possibles:

Carlson
Faulk
Greene
Byfuglien
Yandle
Bogosian
Trouba
Strait
Gardiner
Jones
Stuart
Fayne
Murphy
McCabe
Gilbert
Bouillon
Gleason
McBain
Hainsey
Merrill
Donovan
Oleksy
Petry
Weber
Komisarek
Harrold

that is 26 US NHL D men who can go already (and I imagine I missed a few)... some who have been before... ofc a few will discretely say no, others are injured etc... but I cannot imagine he gets a call.

EDIT: Just checked and they have already named:

Trouba
Petry
Jones
Murphy
McCabe
Gardiner
Donovan

on D... so with 7 already going cannot imagine he gets a look; though all the guys they have taken apart from Petry are kids, so I imagine some of the names I put forward are discounted due to being old, Hockey USA seem to be using it to look at younger players.

Stapleton, Petry and Colin McDonald are the only guys born in 1987 or earlier of the 15 named so far.
