Injuries go in cycles. They might get a lot next year, you never know.

Dolph Lundgren was a Swede playing the part of a Russian, maybe Yakimov being a Russian can play the part of a Swede. I'm not even sure what that means but it's something to think about.

Injuries happen when they happen. Has nothing to do with cycles, odds, destiny.

We're not talking about genetic health issues here, impact injuries. One time owies and repetitive failures and a combination of the two.

Bad fitness can make it easier to get hurt as can a style of play.

#Oilers prospect Bogdan Yakimov (83 overall in 2013) will leave the #KHL to continue his career in North America next season.

Not sure if this was confirmed yet but it looks like its true

I'm excited about this, I want to see what this huge young man can do in NA Pro hockey.

Yeah, seems like it's true. It was speculated earlier.

I'm not sure what to expect from him.

This is good news. I am not sure if hell pan out. But its good to get him to NA as soon as possible.

He had a decent year for a 19 year old in the KHL. He seems to have good tools, and his game should work better on smaller ice.

I would love to put him as the 2c in OKC and surround him with other talented guys.

They're from the same town and have played for the same organization (neftekhimik nizhnekamsk). I think that they've played together before.

The news about Yakimov coming over has been tweeted out back on March 15.

And if you somehow didn't heard this: #Oilers 2013 3rd round pick Bogdan Yakimov is going to spend next year in Edmonton

Nice lets sign him and have him play with our 2 Yaks. He does have 13 NHL games experiences with the Panthers.

Good to see that he and Yakupov are friends. Having each other around will only help them more.

how about our other Russian draft Slepy who's been more touted than Yakimov? Is he more unlikely to head over to North America? Would love to see him come here as well.

Yakubov is 6'3 210lbs. Some people on this board would trade RNH if it helped solidify the spot for that big body.

Come on, MacT!

Probaly not for 2-3 years. Hell come in hot after his KHL season as the hired gun to put the team over the top

He still has a lot of developing to do, and will do that in the KHL rather than the AHL as he can make more money in his home country.

I think an issue will be if Eakins continues to alienate Russians, he wont help the case to get Slepyshev to come over, or for Yakimov to stay. Loading up on Russians is a good strategy because you pick 1st/2nd rounf talent in the 3rd and 4th rounds, but if you alienate them, you will wont get any to come over. As I am not sure they will make decisions independent of eachother

I'd love to see Slepy come over too. I want to see our picks given a chance in the NHL before I write them off.

Unless Yakupov is in OKC, they aren't going to be spending much time around each other.

Yakimov isn't going to step in and play in the NHL next year.

Maybe we could draft this guy as well. He's kinda small but he plays in North America so he'd definitely come over.

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=206726

Lmao nobody seems to know his real name

"Listed in 2011-12 OEMHL stats as Mikhail Yukunin. Listed in 2010-11 OEMHL stats as Mikhail Yakulin."
