Some says that Finnish media reckons he signed for 1 million. He could prove to be quite the bargain...

Strange... I don't feel disapointed...

We still have around 6 to 8 millions (after Rydr, Theo and Markov) to spand... maybe Gainey will go with a trade?

Mr.Hockey: You are my new hero. You have quashed all speculation! Now we can concentrate on our younger players and give them the ice-time they need to develop into solid NHL players. Nothing against Selanne, as I think he was/is a great player, but he simply did not have his spot here, as much as I and others were liking the idea of seeing his name on the back of a Montreal Jersey.

I think you're being optimistic

With Selanne signed, fans will just move onto the next rumour.

eg. Now with Selanne signed, Anaheim needs to free up space! Sykora to Montreal?!

Snap! Your homeboy's baby's momma is so whack! Peep dis. My homey down at the plant just said dat Scott Stevens is heading down to da 514. He gonna be representin with Komisarek! My homegirl Sheniquah's baby daddy (the second one) said Montreal is gonna trade for Adrian Aucoin! Apparently the hood is too ruff in Chi-Town and he wants to chill in MTL. Reprezent!

ALL OF THIS IS FOR FUN: NONE OF THIS IS REAL. JUST IN CASE YOU WERE GETTING EXCITED!

As much as I liked the idea of Selanne with Montreal, as I posted many times, we had no place for him as our first line RW has to be Kovalev, and Teemu would want to play with Saku.

So only makes sense that he went elsewhere. Anaheim is my 2nd favourite team, so awesome that they got him.

Only $1M as per RDS is an awesome deal.

Nothing I've read suggests that there are (looks to me like the "bonus" would come in the form of a new contract), and I think there is only one way for him under the CBA to qualify for performance bonuses. Depending on what the cutoff dates for age are, he may or may not qualify. In any event, looks like Teemu was driven not by money but by his desire to be on the west coast. Good for him. Hopefully for him, he bounces back.

We'd have $34-35M spent if Ryder, Theo, and Markov accept their qualifiers. But there will be some raises there, so realistically we'll have $36-37M spent, and the team won't go any higher towards the cap. There's no $6-8M left to spend unless we don't sign Theodore.

Still, if Selanne signed for $1M, that's basically what Higgins or Perezhogin makes, so it wouldn't have affected us at all. But Anaheim was already in trouble, so they have more pressure to make a trade now.
