As much as beating the bruins would feel great, Detriot is the logical answer here.

Much better to fave Howard than Rask (yes, I'm aware of Rask's record vs MTL), much better to face Kronwall than Chara. Much better to face an aging and obviously not fully healthy Datsyuk, injured and not in game shape Zetterberg and a cast of inexperienced forwards than face Bergeron, Krejci, Lucic and the rest.

Don't let your emotion get in the way of logic.

Boston because Montreal owns them they have won 24 of the 33 overall series, and they have won 6 out of the last 7 games, and Price is 17-8-3 career vs Boston, and Rask is 3-10-3 career vs Montreal.

I just want the easiest rout, Detroit seems like a team that doesn't play as good as the Boons.

I definitely want the Bruins now. Sure Detroit might seem a little bit easier, but if one wants to go all the way one has to beat the best at some point anyway. So better now than Conference Finals.

I want to face Detroit because even if we could manage to win a series against the Bruins, our players would then be so tired and banged up, it would make things very hard for the next series.

Unless we beat them in 4 and have time to rest up.

Our best players were Gionta and Gallagher with 6 pts in 8 games.
Thow away all of that historical data.

The Bolts were better than us in the regular season and look at what happened in the playoffs.

The Bolts didn't spear any of our players in the balls though. Boston are dirty thugs would rather line up against a skill team in the Wings.

I agree. As much as I would normally have a "live by the sword, die by the sword" approach to this upcoming series, the last thing we need is Lucic to continue imitating Valerie Solanas and seriously hurt someone this time.

I'd rather get the Bruins over with now while we're still hot! If we beat them I predict we win it all!!

I say Boston. We can match them line for line so I'm not scared. I'm not scared of the physical crap. If we play it right it actually works to our favour. Detroit can match our speed and if they get Zetterberg back they are a different team.

We are in a good position regardless who we face. Moen should be ready to go, Galchenyuk not too far behind. We have good young players in the black Ace squad.

Against the bruins, we know we can beat them, and I guarantee we're already in their heads. The key is not to get sucked into their garbage after the whistle and try to avoid cheap shots....right Emelin

Against the Wings, they have good speed and youth. If we use a similar strategy like the Tampa one, we can win that series too.

Overall, we seem to be healthy, confident, and playing well. All 3 things are big this time of year

I'd rather beat Boston, but if Montreal were to lose in round 2, I'd rather lose to Detroit.

Overall, I think we match up nicely against both teams. I think I'd rather play against Detroit, though.

You will have to look far and wide to find somebody who will disagree with you on this point.

I think we could beat the wings; but, geez louise, if we play boston--it'll be a long ride.

couldn't see it going less than 6, and each game being a physical grind. would be awesome hockey, win or lose, but I don't know how much we would have left in the tank after facing the bruins, even if we win.

but let's think about how it could look, with a reformat. everything for the 1 round remains the same, but changes for the next round.

Hypothetical winners:

Boston
Penguins
Habs
Rangers/philly

habs get penguins

2nd hypothetically

Boston
Habs
Rangers/philly
Columbus

3rd Hypothetical
Pens
Habs
Rangers/Philly
Wings

4th hypothetical

Habs
Rangers/Philly
Columbus
Wings

I think that's all the combinations?

Anyways, I think Boston and Montreal are the 2 best teams in the conference, right now, and it's a shame each year only 1 can make it to the conference finals.

I don't like that.

Chara has been slowing down, there was a thread on the main HF boards and that was the concensus from non-Bruins fans. He is not as dominant as he used to be. The Bruins also traded Tyler Seguin to the Stars where he had 80 something points this year. Bruins fans think they have a better team than in 2011, I just don't see how.

About Detroit, I wouldn't underestimate them. They might give us a better fight than Boston.

Bruins got Hamilton and Ericsson. that's not shaby at all. Both very talented players.

It's much better to face Howard than Rask and the Bruins defence.

Ericsson is not as talented as Seguin. The Bruins see him as secondary scoring. Look at how Seguin transformed the Stars. They just tied their series... last year they didn't even make the playoffs ! When I learned about the Seguin trade, I jumped of joy.

Moreover, Chara is getting old... sure Hamilton is awsome and gained in experience, but Chara was a monster in 2011.

Generally agreed.

Plus, let's not forget just how impressive Tim Thomas played that very year. I mean, Tukka's pretty solid. But Thomas was godly.

I voted Wings but know Boston it will be. They are taking advantage of Detroit's lack of size ie. Habs/Flyers 2010 series.

The Bear has them intimidated now..it's over.

Only if Emelin is allowed to hit Lucic in the nuts.
