The state is neither blue nor red. It's just weird. It's an odd state with odd politics. I'm not surprised that those who haven't lived there wouldn't understand that.

He's an absolute nut. Complete scum bag. It's why he was decisively crushed in just about every race he's run in.

The unfortunate part is he has control of a lot of the WV media through his newspaper empire. So his disgusting messages still get out there.

Uh, it's not that simple. Again, Clinton would have carried the state in 2008 and 2012. So if she was president now, you'd be saying the state was blue.

I have a feeling she can carry the state in 2016, too.

In an on topic post, these towns provide a window into one of the major failings of our anti-poverty programs. People lack the assistance to leave towns who's economic purpose has ended. It provides a continuous trap for future generations.

Joe Manchin is a conservative Democrat. Hillary Clinton is not.

WV currently has one relatively liberal Democrat senator and one conservative Democrat senator.

I agree. Hillary, right or wrong, will be perceived as Bubba II. Nobody is going to put enough thought into trying to ascertain how she might govern differently from Bill.

Rural blue collar whites liked Bubba, a lot, which is why he carried otherwise red Kentucky twice even while we were throwing out all our democrat congressmen and senator and replacing them with republicans.

Yeah West Virginia is scary. Never been, but I've only heard poor things. We don't talk about poverty in the states because everyone has an attitude that poor people are to blame for their circumstances.

a) I'm not Austrian, I'm a real American just like you and Sarah Palin.
b) Still smarting from your big 2012 Mitt Romney prediction fail, I see. How long does the butt-hurt take to dissipate anyway.... will it be gone by 2016, or will you still be dragging out this hilarious chestnut every time you get burned in a thread here? I for one enjoy it every time though, so please never change Doc!

I know you are an American, because an Austrian wouldnt be so pompous as to suggest that they know better about something than the people actually living it.

Yes, I was wrong about the 2012 election, but you are the one who drags out that fact as if it gives you the ultimate trump card when you pull the same silly crap in situations when you are obviously wrong... its clear that Bird has personal experience with West Virginia and yet you continue to assert that you have the clearest read on the situation... just silly

Any Austrian who accurately predicted that Mitt Romney would lose in 2012 was already more clued in than you.

And you're obviously still butt-hurt about it. Let the butt-hurt flow through you Preds!

I make a decent, insightful post in this thread and it turns into a turd fest. Save that for the Columbus gay bashing thread.
