He holds out every year for more money? Like before the lockout and this year? Christ, Hossa, ALFREDSSON, CHARA have held out. Its not a big deal from a RFA (Yashin is a different breed of holdout, and it is poor terminology that has the first group lumped in with the second).

it's weird...but the Hossa signing still isn't on TSN, and usually they are the ones to break these kinds of signings.

Could this be all BS possibly?

I doubt it, lately I've been seeing news on sportsnet hours sooner then I see it on TSN. Plus Sportsnet East is home of the sens!

GO HABS GO!
Read it again! "bring in some heart".

BTW: I suppose that you haven't seen Havlat compete on the ice. It will be interesting now that Jacques Martin is gone (with his short leash) as to how Havlat's edge is developed.
This guy has one short fuse , if Murray let's him loose once in a while you may see some interesting fireworks.

TSN has no number, we will have to see on the amount. Sportsnet has been wrong before.

OTTAWA (CP) - The Ottawa Senators have avoided salary arbitration with Marian Hossa by signing the star forward to an $18-million US, three-year deal. It's in the bold print on TSN

They changed it, $5, $6, $7 sounds about right.

It's $5, $6 and $7 mill a season deal over three years.

This is a pricey signing, but it's hard not to be happy with signing the most talented player in our franchise history. He's with our team this year, but I wouldn't count out the possiblity of him being traded before his contract is up. Next year brings some tough choices, and if the cap goes down, things get worse. If Havlat puts up some monster numbers this season, we know who he is going to compare himself against.

The good news is, this core can stay together this year, even if the buget is tight. That gives us a strong opportunity toward the cup this year (probably one of the favourites). We can worry about next year, next year.

I think we should go for the cup this year, then trade hossa next summer. With 2 years left on his contract, im sure there would be plenty of good offers.

I agree de vries or smoke may get traded for nothing, just to shed salary
The cup for hte next couple of years..........C'mon

you weren't able to get a cup or even get far in the playoffs with all your players and now you think you'll be able to get a cup even after losing a couple of key players

That doesn't make any sense

And just what key players did we lose? Our awesome centers in Shaun Van Allen, Bonk and White? No really, I want to know.
The only major player we lost has been Lalime, and we got an upgrade over him.

Everyone, keep things civil, and leave the moderating to the moderators.

Translation: I'm angry that the Sens locked up Hossa long-term. I am going to express my resentment by posting silly messages on the internet about how the Senators cannot win the Cup in hopes of sleeping better tonight. My life is woe

What's with the Habs trolls all of a sudden?

I'm glad Hossa is back. Sure, it's for more than I would have liked, but that's the price you pay to lock up a great player for some of his UFA years, I suppose. I'll enjoy the year, for sure.

Sorry I must have not understood the wording. But just so we both know look at my edit and there is one player I realized that we did lose, but like I said we hopefully have an upgrade.

Maybe you should start making informed posts?

A) If getting to game 7 of the conference finals isn't "far" in the playoffs, then I don't what is.

B) "key" players? Lalime, Bonk, Van Allen, White were not key players. You'll find that out with Bonk soon enough.
