There were plenty of posters who said they didn't even care... posters that didn't really care about the team all year.

I'm still not sold with this team and I'm far from being as excited as I was back in 2008 and 2010.

Figured you'd be ecstatic the way Eller is playing.

A little disingenuous there Natey.

Not identifying with the play of the regular season and not getting excited for playoffs are two different things.

People managed to get excited under a boring Martin team as well, even amongst those who couldn't stand him from the get go. Playoffs have a different atmosphere because the stakes are higher. The possibility of elimination makes the post-season inherently exciting.

Even if the system wouldn't have changed, the majority would still be on the edge of their seats because contrary to the false narrative created by those who don't like to hear criticism, us 'negative nancies' want to see the team win in the playoffs.

I'm just waiting for someone to come in here and say
"Still not excited. Why would I be excited about being closer to a 2nd round elimination oy the bruins?"

And that may even be true but think about it. Should still be excited. I mean after all, it's still a lot more exciting than being leafs or senators fans.

To be honest I was hoping that if they weren't going to win the first round and move on that they would get pumped real bad and Therrien got fired. But now that I see the way the team is playing, I'm very happy and impressed with Michel.

I'll say I never got up to my normal level of excitement all season long. I was never sure why. I still watched the games, but I was having trouble caring as much as I usually do. I thought it was a side effect of the lockout + our early playoffs exit last year. Before the playoffs actually started, I started getting really excited. Now I'm just starving for hockey.

False narrative? A little bit of a lie there, Andy. Go back and read the thread created right before the Playoffs. Plenty of people were stating they weren't very excited by the team or for the Playoffs.

If you think I don't want to see the Habs win, I don't know what to say.

I was more excited before these series, actually cause it was the unknown.

Now i'm less excited cause it can be a sweep. Too easy.

You have to enjoy the ride the entire way.

There's nothing worse than being pessimistic about the team the whole time and if they do win the big one? You try to act like "Oh I'm eating crow it's cool bro"

It's sport. Have fun with it. Win or lose. Stop trying to be right and just be happy.

Series ain't over yet. And the league is doing whatever it takes to prolong this series. An epic collapse could very well happen.

Definitely helps that A) we've gone back to playing like we did last year and B) we're winning.

Beg your pardon? What is the league doing to prolong the series? Making Lindback play decent in game 3?

Small market team that needs money, bad press from yesterday thanks to the disallowed goal(correct call, even if it seems ticky tacky)...yeah, the incentives are there to make it difficult for the Habs...

With Chris Lee reffing this game, they want the series to be drawn out.

From what I remember, some people were saying they don't identify with the way the team has played during the regular season, and that playing that way not too far off from the POs doesn't leave much to be excited about.

When playoffs start though, there's a switch that turns on. Any serious fan has that switch.

But we are not playing like we did during the regular season.

A combination of shocked and excited, I'd say.

The play of Eller has been absolutely fantastic to watch. He's literally put a big ol' clown cap on his detractors, and has been near symbolic of what the change towards a more aggressive system can do.

That more aggressive system has been exciting to watch. A complete 180 degree change from the "1 line-centric" system we used over the regular season (that was lauded by many), this more uptempo, offensively even system has so far supported the idea that this team had offensive assets it was woefully under utilizing, and has cast serious doubt on the often loudly and zealously voiced opinion that we just didn't have the offensive talent to field even 2 offensively effective lines.

While I can appreciate the argument that E=CH initially made that our current PO system is to energy-intensive to adopt over a full 82 game season, it really is exciting to see the system many of us long advocated for be not only put into practice, but to so far reap such impressive results.

For sure we are.
I'm up for every game.
I can comiserate with any fan who felt less than impressed/invested before the drop of the puck in game 1.
We have seen a ton of uninspiring play this year.
I was at the Bell Center for the game against the Isles. It was by far the worse game i've ever seen live.
I could have gotten a better kick going to the local rink and taking in a Midget game.
A fan is no different from a player. We also have to buy into a system of play that inspires us.
That's what made the JM run so special. Was it the best hockey ever no. It was a style of play everyone could identify with/invest in because we knew there was no other way. It was riveting in the fact that there was no way in hell we could upset all those top seeded clubs.

This series has not approched those heights. But we don't need it to.
Take care of business and thing will ratchet up nicely all on their own.

GHG
