I know Bishop's regular season stats were jaw dropping, however, Fox Sports just ranked Bishop as the worst playoff goalie of the 16 (I know, he did not play):

Awards:
1. Wingers putting pressure on the defense.
2. Turnovers.
3. Winning puck battles consistently.
4. Production from all four lines.
5. Terrible goaltending, as bad as the defense in front of him was.

I think #1 is the goaltending situation in TB. With Bishop it's a different series but hey, injuries are part of hockey.

Replace Marty St.Louis and Ben Bishop with Ryan Callahan and Anders Lindback.

If he is so good, then why has he been up and down his whole carreer? The most games he's played in the NHL were this year (by far) and he's already 27. One season does not a good goalie make.

Granted, Montreal seems to have trouble with him, but that's because we don't have a lot of net presence.
I remember when Craig Anderson was the best goalie in the world. I also remember when Mike Smith was the best goalie in the world. This crap happens every single year. Bishop is horribly, horribly overrated.

Bishop has been solid the last two years, he could be the real deal. Anderson wasn't fooling anyone.

No doubt bishop is solid and a #1 but he's talked about like an elite talent after his first real year as a starter, that's overrated

If Matt Carle is playing the most minutes for your team, your defense sucks. He is a second pair D at best. No matter how much the CBC liked Hedman, he still hasn't proven to be a #1 D in the league. The rest of their D was worst. They used castoff Sami Salo as a shut down D. How awful is that. So the bad D is the #1 reason the Lightning lost.

The second reason is Montreal outplayed them at every turn. Tampa won more faceoffs than Montreal, but the Habs retrieved the puck quickly. They forechecked hard and forced turnovers. They played good defensively not great, and they got out of their own zone quickly.

The goaltending would be the 3rd reason. Yeah no Bishop, big deal. They still would have lost with him because of reasons #1, 2, 4 and 5.

The 4th reason is their offensive leaders didn't lead. Stamkos, Filpulla and Callahan didn't do enough. Stamkos may have had 4 points, but in games 2 through 4, he had 0 goals. Only 2 assists and his team had only 6 goals to Montreal's 11 in those 3 games. Overall Filpulla 1 assist and Callahan nothing. Callaghan, that's the guy that replaced St-Louis ppg during the season.

If you're looking for a 5th reason, experience would be the one. Bournival was the only rookie who never played in the playoffs before and he wasn't expected to lead the Habs. Tampa was the exact opposite. In 1986, the Habs went into the playoffs with 10 rookies, Roy, Richer, Lemieux, Dahlin, Skrudland, Maley, Kordic, Lalor, Momesso and a rookie coach. But they still had the leaders like Robinson, Gainey, Ludwig, Naslund, Smith, McPhee, Nilan, Carbo etc. Tampa wasn't that good of a team and the 101 points they finished with was very flattering.

That's why there is no game 5 tonight.

Just like Anderson in 2010. Bishop would not have won Tampa the series.

1. Better goalie
2. Better forwards
3. Better D Squad
4. Better coaching
5. a good amount of luck

...and

6. more experienced roster
7. Lack of Martin St Louis

More and more and you realise that Tampa's 101 season was mostly all Bishop.

I think Tampa's defense was WAY worse than Lindback tbh.

Another thing not explicitly mentioned...

I think our no 6 D-Men outplayed what's supposed to be their no1 D-Men. You can't really win when that happens.

It's not really hard to out play Matt Carle defensively.

This.

Lindback was not too bad, i think he burned his good games when he won player of the week right before the playoffs.

Peaking at the wrong time.
