Could start the year and teach Letho at first then be the best back up available if the finn slows down...

What you think? Who could they ship to BUF? Exelby?

One goalie isn't enough, they need at least two. Maybe three.

If I were Don Waddell, I'd go for a guy like Mike Dunham instead. Probably could be had cheap as a free agent (wouldn't have to fork over a pick for Biron, nor pay his 2 mil salary). Let Lehtonen earn the starter's job and have Dunham be a very capable backup.

Biron for Exelby would be a great deal for us i think. i'd most likely be willing to throw in a decent pick with that deal.

Whats Exelby's contract status by the way?

I agree. No need to make a trade when there isn't one to be made.

Wouldn't Noronen make more sense being that both him and Lehtonen are Finnish? Or is it the understandment that Noronen is better than Biron?

Its no surprise that Buffalo has to get rid of one of the three headed golie monster but us Sabres fans are more iffy to let Mika go considering his age and low contract.

How about Biron and a 4th for Exelby?

Why would the Thrashers need a guy like Biron or Noronen? There are plenty of cheap over the hill veteran UFA goalies who can help Lehtonen along. Plus Michael Garnett is vastly underrated(though still probably a year away).

All the Thrashers need is a one year rental at most.

Would you ask a homeless man for a dollar? Don't ask for a defenseman from Atlanta.

you'd be lucky to land a 2nd round pick for biron. to think atlanta will give up exelby for him is nothing more than very very very wishful thinking

i'd say either dunham or potvin (if felix didn't already sign in russia)

I'd take a pick for Biron!

Exelby is'nt what we need. If he was Brad Brown would have been signed.

Actually, an Exelby/Brown type is what they need, among other things. It will take Regier until the trade deadline to notice and then maybe... maybe... do something about it.

i was replying to the topic starter who suggested Atlanta gives us Exelby straight up for Marty..... i actually suggested we'd have to add a pick with that.

and Exelby is nothing special. i wouldn't mind him in Buffalo at all, since our D is weak and not particularly physical, and Exelby is young and i imagine quite cheap, but even on our D, he is only a third pairing guy, maybe a #4 on a good day.

but i'd give up Biron and say, a 3rd or something, as we'd be getting a D for a goalie, we'd dump payroll, and Mika would get his chance. Miller too. Biron is a far better goalie than Dunham or the like, and its a risky move for Atlanta to rely on Lehtonen for the whole season. Who else do they have?

SR - he may not be what we need, regarding a top pairing player, but as i said, i think he would be a solid addition for the #5/6 role. the further Bryan Campbell is away from our NHL roster, the less worried i am

Nah. Bring on the Lehtonen-Hurme combination.
