best game you ever attended

I was just wondering what was the most exciting or most important hockey game you have attended over the years. Preferably Flyers games, but any other teams will do. I was lucky enough to have a friend get tickets for Flyers -Lightning game 6. The crowd was amazing and the comeback and then the overtime goal were unbelievable. It seemed so long ago.....

1. 1986 Stanley Cup Finals Game 6

Had just moved to the Phila area and this one made me a Flyers fan for life.

2. 1985 Flyers - Islanders. Don't remember the date but the Flyers scored 11 goals and there were fights all game long - including a huge brawl in the stands - some rowdy Isles fans got absolutely beaten down right in front of me. That was my first Flyers game. Welcome to south Philly!!!

Lindros's first home game against the Devils when he came barreling down the wing and scored a goal. the place went wild.

playoffs in 95 against Buffalo, after having missed the dance for 5 years the old Spectrum was no loud it was sickening. Kevin Haller made a long bomb to Lindrsos(think it was him) and he scored. The atmosphere at that time was insane, you could litteraly feel the building shake. If anyone was there thye know what I mean

My favorite was a 1988 affair - or was it Ď89 - against the Pens at the old Spectrum. This was still the period where the Pens had not won in something like 30 or 40 straight games in Philly. We were a little late, and my first view was of Jay Caufield and Chief going at it less than a minute into the first. It was to be the first of a long parade to the penalty boxes. I remember that the Pens got out to a 2-0 lead, with Coffey scoring one of the goals on a PP. The Flyers scored the next four, I donít remember by whom, and Mario scored with less than two minutes left when in on a breakaway against Hexy, who owned him relative to most NHL goaltenders - relative being a relative term. :-) They won, 4-3.

At any rate, for an example of how raw of a game it was, Pelle ****** had a fighting major. The total PIMs were something around 250 for the game. At one time, all 10 skaters were sent off the ice. I also remember Timmy Kerr giving someone a licking. He was a tough S.O.B., although he was difficult to rile. Cam Neely with normally a gentler disposition, if you will.

I seem to remember Al Secord scoring on a beautiful 2-on-1 feed from Keith Acton, but Iím sure that was a different game because I donít think they were with the club until 1989. No, Iím sure the game I described above was 1988, perhaps November? Definitely the Ď88-Ď89 season.

--------------------------

Edit: Am I reading this post correctly? Has the name of a diminutive former Flyer wing who wore #9 been zipped out? What time is the book-burning rally tonight? Are we wearing our Nazi armbands, or going incognito?

This board is usually a pretty well-run and site, but the administration really can't see the forest for the trees on this one. Like a child who can't behave, the so-called prognosticator who pirated our former Flyer's name deserves to be ignored, not given attention in the manner the administrators have chosen to do so on this board.

Thumbs down to HF for this sophomoric act. Shame, shame, shame.

Randy Holt of the Kings still holds the record for most pim's in a game, and it all came in the 1st period.

As a mere tot I saw the Flyers break the NHL record for consecutive games without a loss (29 en route to 35) when they beat the Bruins in the Boston Garden (the day before the Mike Milbury-shoe incident at the NYR) in December of 1979. I recall cheering and even some Bruins' fans applauded. It was a Saturday afternoon game.

I also saw two games in the Spectrum in the 1989 Flyers-Caps series (Game 3 loss and Game 4 win). That was the series Hexy scored in Game 6 at Washington.

Yeah, mainly because I remember the guy sitting behind us, who himself lacked any teeth yelling "Stick 'em in the mush." non-stop the entire game.

THESE ARE FLYERS RECORDS:

A Flyers' book I have lists (at the time) team records for most PIM in a game by the Flyers (194), by an opponent in a game (186) and by both teams in a game (380).

Also, team records in a period: by an opponent 184 (1st period), for the Flyers 188 (1st) and both teams at 372.

Individual records: penalty minutes by a Flyer, Frank Bathe, 55 and penalty minutes by an opponent, Randy Holt, 69.

I was wondering if anyone would mention the 74 finals. That must have been a incredible game to be at. I can remember watching the game on TV in total disbelief that my B's, with Orr and Espo, could get shut out 1-0.
Kate and Bernie Parent were just to much!

Been to very few Flyers games, although I did get to the revenge game against the Rangers in 04 on Valentine's day. Rowdy crowd that day!

The two most exciting games I've been to in Philly though were Phantom games. 05 playoffs game five against WBS Pens. Philly down 4-1 less than 2mins into the third and scored 6 unanswered goals to win and eliminate WBS. Awesome!

Only topped by game four in the finals against Chicago. It was so loud in the third that you couldn't hear a thing. nothing beats being there when "your" team wins it all.

In the great scheme of things it wasn't a super important game, but PHI vs. ATL on 01/05/03 in Atlanta. First time I ever saw the Flyers win in person! Used to go to the Spectrum when I was a kid living in Cherry Hill and they never won. Went to an exhibition game in Charlotte, NC back in the 90s vs. BOS and they lost that one too. The score was 5-4. Recchi scored twice and Brashear had a great game(!). I think Somik got his first NHL goal. It was fun with the lead going back and forth.
