,but mostly speculation: THN: King's Roster Shake-up

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/ru...oster-shakeup/

Best Quote:

"Goaltender Jonathan Quick, defensemen Drew Doughty and Slava Voynov, and forwards Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown, Jeff Carter and Mike Richards make up the Kings’ core. Quick, despite his shaky performance against the Sharks, appears entrenched as their starter. Doughty and Voynov anchor their blueline. Kopitar, a finalist this season for the Selke Trophy, is among the league’s top two-way forwards.

If Kings GM Dean Lombardi decides to shake things up, Richards, Carter and Brown appear the likely trade candidates. While each carries a long-term contract worth over $5 million per season they also lack no-trade clauses, giving Lombardi a wide range of destinations to choose from."

What do you think? Could Richards and Carter be on the move AGAIN? Brown's name is a surprise to me. I thought he would have a long life as a King.

What do you think?

There are many teams that could use these players.

Who do you like? Who will definitely go?

I don't see any reason a team should be interested in Brown given his new contract kicking in and play over last 2 years

Awards:
Carter wouldn't get dealt. Richards would be the most likely candidate of the three.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Oilers go after Richards or Brown.

The team just won the cup 2 years ago. Doesn't make much sense to blow up the core just yet. I think what holds them back in the west is that it's full of puck possession teams that have a lot of speed/skill on backend, which LA has little of outside Voynov and Doughty. They should address that. And I'm not sold that Quick is the long-term answer in net. He's an awesome goalie, but he's had some injury problems over the last few years. I'd be worried about his body breaking down sooner than later.

Carter would look good on Anaheim's 2nd line

But seriously, LA would be dumb to trade a player like Carter. Richards/Brown? Can't say the same.

Richards to Edmonton a possibility IMO.

But that's if they lose. Nothing is certain yet.

Some may see it like this but I feel there would be many teams interested if Brown was put on the open market. He brings more than the stats put up and had knee done which takes a full year before your back to full health.

The Leafs would for sure be interested in Richards. I don't think Kadri would work as a starter though

If LA was dumb enough to deal Carter there is NO chance he would go to Anahiem. I see them shopping Richards and that's about it from the core.

And his play has been bad for 2 years not one though

He is a very overpriced 3rd liner at this point IMO

Toronto could throw more in to sweeten the deal.

Believe what you will but these clowns will write anything to get hits to the sites and sell a few papers. But that's the joy of the internet era. Back 10+ years ago they had great writers.... Not do much now.

Ok people i did this sorta post in another thread and it looks like i will have to do another one here. Lets look at this king season a little before we go doing the rash trading everyone threads. As a team we won the Jennings trophy for the least goals against. This is something that has never happened in my 38 years as a king fan and to be honest growing up i never thought we would. King fans have never had this good of goaltending since Rogie was in net. We also had a 100 point season I belive we have only done this 4 times in kings history. Yes i will be the first one to say we had a few players have not so good seasons but to give up on such players after what they have done in the past isn't something i care to do. Yes Brown may or may not be overpaid with his new contract (imo its debatable depending on how you value physical play and the ability to draw peneltys) Richards also might be overpaid this season but he did put up 2nd line numbers) Alot of people will point out offensive numbers to try and devalue king players. I will say if your looking on purely offensive numbers you would be right on saying they sucked. I however look at the team number were we better in the regular season then last few years yes were we better defensively yes. Imo we need to replace two ufa defenseman in greene and mitchell also we will proberly get rid of one of king or clifford ( andy andreoff is coming and will replace one of them ) Other then this we should leave our forward alone. This last couple of season has gotten this team tired and they need some rest ( least not forget they re playing a most intense season with the olympics and sort season last year. )

Yea right 29 points in 46 games last year is a good season he has had one bad year and it's coming off knee surgery that takes a full year to get back from.

Any team that finished with a losing record should think twice before acquiring Carter. If he doesn't like his new team, he could easily regress back to Columbus Carter.

Would definitely be interested in a Brown + Jones package to the Island.

For the leafs, I'd be willing to do Lupul + 8th overall for Richards

Richards is my favourite player

Holland plus 2016 1st is bad.

Lupul+ or Kadri+ is more realistic

wow ty Atomos that is a good soild offer only thing is i don't see it making the kings a better team. To be honest I don't see a trade between leafs and kings where one of our top centers (kopitar carter or richards) gets moved the reason is simple if we make a trade its to make us better and doesn't open a big hole. Right now the only thing we really need is a top left handed defense man to play with Drew He would also need to be defensive minded ( sorry no to dion) and make sence cap wise. We are trying to win the cup not get a furture players
