99 .9% sure they will not buy him out. If they decide they don't want him on the team any longer ( and i'm 80 % sure they do ) they would find a team to trade him to despite what a few think i feel he still holds value league wide and it would be a hockey trade. j staal for richards comes to mind or richards for a lefthanded defenseman to partner with drew.

Lupul + for Richards?

Not something major for the +, thinking a lesser piece with a mid pick.

I think a lot of you are being pretty hard on Richards.

His cup winning season he had 44 points, and now he's considered less value because of his 41 point season.

I haven't watched too many Kings' games this season. It's hard to imagine that this former Olympian and Cup champ has little value. All players have bad seasons. Are you saying that they never survive a decline?

Good god, THN is really pumping out some garbage.

The Kings core is Jonathan Quick, Drew Doughty, Anze Kopitar, and Jeff Carter. Anyone else is fair game.

With so many core players either in their prime or entering it, I don't see why Lombardi would make any major changes. More likely to see minor tinkering among the support players.

i agree the only off season move i see if we do anything major would be a lefthanded defensive defensman to play with drew. resign gaborik king get the dman call it a off season ill be more then happy. A full year of Gaborik with a more seasoned king toffoli pearson with Anderoff and McNabb coming from the ahl.

it's just hard to take your nostalgic trip down hockey youth history seriously.

we're talking about hockey writing. how good could it have been compared to a writer for The Star, etc. or the blogosphere we read today?

you say this stuff with such authority as though you have a journalism degree (in a trade rumors hockey forum no less). it reminds me of the way HF boardsters used to talk about McKenzie and Dreger as though they come from the True Brothers of Integrity Hockey Fraternity.

Are you actually comparing old true rumors to today's baseless untrue rumors?

Edit:

Also any "Back in the day" posts really irk me.

Jordan Eberle, David Perron, EDM 2nd '15 ($9.8M) for Dustin Brown, Mike Richards, Kyle Clifford ($12.5M)

Kings get room to resign Gaborik and a couple defenders... open up roster spots for deserving youngsters Toffoli, Linden Vey, Tanner Pearson... add explosive offense to a lineup more biased to size and power

Gaborik ($6.5-7.5M)-Kopitar-Eberle
Perron-Carter-Toffoli
King ($1.5M)-Stoll-Williams
Vey/Pearson-Lewis-Nolan
Vey/Pearson Shore

Muzzin-Doughty
UFA-Voynov
Martinez-Regehr
McNabb

Quick
Jones

Kings would have $4-5M to sign a defender to replace Matt Greene...

Hall-RNH-Brown
Yakupov-Richards-Gagner
Hendricks-Gordon-UFA ($3M)
Clifford-Lander-Arcobello
Joensuu Acton

UFA/Trade-UFA/Trade
Klefbom/Marincin-Petry ($3.25M)
Ference-J. Schultz ($3M)
Klefbom/Marincin

Scrivens
Fasth

Oil add size toughness and two way play to a roster totally lacking it... complement a core of young scoring talent... around $13M capspace... easily enough to fill the holes on D

Well lol i guess its because back in the day the news was harder to get and because of this fact it made the hockey news a lot more relavent It was full of relevant hockey writers. Before the day of the internet people had to wait for a lot of the hockey new we get today. Then rumour we rare to here about making them a lot more special but sorry for being old i guess.

I don't know if LA really needs to make many changes. They were still a great team during the regular season.

Re-signing Gaborik seems like a big priority.

Williams
Kopitar
Gaborik
Carter
Brown
Stoll
Toffoli
King
Pearson

Doughty
Martinez
Muzzin
Voynov

Quick
Jones

would be the guys you obviously keep, even with the off year that Brown had. So they need to make decisions on:
1) Mike Richards
2) The bottom sixers, of Nolan/Lewis/Vey/Clifford/Fraser
3) The slow D, Mitchell/Regehr/UFA Matt Greene

Could you imagine if they took Karlsson in the 2008 draft instead of Teubert? Holy mother of hockey.

You're onto it, for not being a fan of the team you're pretty spot on. As for the Karlsson pick, Its not that clear cut, what would Karlssons game be like under Terry Murray or Darryl Sutter, probably nowhere near as offensive. Development is a big factor too. Still Teubert in hindsight was a crap pick.

First off Blitz wd you made me stop cold and made me think something that is hard to do when it comes to others proposing trades I normally have a gut instint to say no or make up my mind rather quickly trusting my gut reaction. This one made me think its close but i think the kings are giving up to much they give up the best player ( its close between him and brown ) the better future goalie and a first and 2nd for a 2nd thats just to much to give up I realize brown contract is alot worse especially when ur sending Ehrhoff at 50% but its just to much with the fact browns a captain and leads us in hits the teams real idenity. wd proberly fair but to much for this king fan ( i don't want to sell brown low.)
