well, with Zinovjev and Hilbert in Providence, and Zamuner injured we only have a few guys who can actually play center left in camp, and one of them is Bergeron. It seems that we will have our 2nd round draft pick in the lineup on opening night. Zino I imagine will get a call up once Bergeron's 9 or 10 game tryout is over. Unless Bergeron shows management in those 9-10 games that he belongs here for the season. I still haven't had a chance to see this kid play and am looking forward to tomorrow afternoon's game. I'm trying not to get my hopes up before I actually see him play but everybody here has had nothing but good things to say about him. The only way I can see him not making it is if we picked up someone in the waiver draft today. I'm still trying to find reports on that, anybody know when a full list of player movements should be available?
Apparently, Zinovjev also has a bit of a groin strain as well... could well be a conditioning stint, or it could well be that several folks (including me) were wrong about the terms of his contract.
BB.com is reporting that the only cuts made were Hilbert and Kutlak .. The training camp roster is at 27 (which including Zina and Green makes sense) ..

The Bruins might want to tell their AHL affiliate that then.

FOUR OTHER ROSTER MOVES MADE
Providence, RI --
The Providence Bruins announced today that defenseman Zdenek Kutlak and center/right wing Sergei Zinovjev have been assigned to the club by the Boston Bruins. In addition, left wing Andy Hilbert has been assigned to Providence to continue rehabilitation on his injured groin. The P-Bruins also released right wings Adam Smyth and Nick Lent from camp, and are assigning Chris Paradise to a team in the ECHL.
Kutlak, entering his fourth year in the Bruins’ organization, tallied 4-12-16 totals and 52 PIM in 68 games with Providence last season. He also scored his first NHL goal, while playing in four games with Boston. Hilbert, now entering his third season, led the P-Bruins and tied for third in the AHL with 35 goals last year. He notched 70 points in 64 games, and added three assists in 14 games with Boston. Zinovjev tied for second on Ak Bars Kazan (Russia) with 14-17-31 totals in 47 games.
Head coach Scott Gordon’s team plays the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Bridgewater (MA) Ice Arena on tonight at 7:05 p.m. They wrap up the exhibition season the next night at the Springfield Civic Center, where they take on the Falcons at 7:35 p.m.
The Bruins open up the 2003-04 regular season, their 12th in the AHL, on Friday, October 10, when they host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m.
Just for your information... the Bruins sent me their current roster in preparation for the telecast of tomorrow's Ranger game and Sergei Zinojev is listed on the roster. Their are currently 27 names on the roster, including Martin Lapointe (knee arthroscopy), Rob Zamuner (strained hamstring), Steve Shields and Travis Green. I don't know if Zinovjev is playing tomorrow or not, but he is positively on the roster. Kutlak and Hilbert, who WERE assigned to Providence today, are not on the roster.

Dale, any chance that Green or Boynton will play tomorro night?
I know it is not likely with Green, but sometimes guys want to make up for lost time and get right in with their new mates. I would also like to see Zinoviev too.
Green is unlikely as he will only arrive in Boston tomorrow. I am expecting that Boynton will play, although he is one of seven healthy defensemen on the current roster.
The Bruins might want to tell their AHL affiliate that then.

Weird, but that link now seems to be broken...perhaps it's a problem on my end...
Don't think so... whoever deals with the P-Bruins website seems to mess up on a fairly regular basis... I shouldn't be horribly surprised that they messed up who got sent down from Boston as well.
These guys certainly go up and down enough at this time of year that maybe Zinovjev has been officially sent down, but he still could end up dressing for tommorrow night's Bruins game.
From the Herald, it says that a decision has to be made about Zino, and if he'll play for Providence or go back to Russia. (It's the very last sentence of the article.)
Obviously Grosek is the critical lynchpin holding together the Bruins Cup-bound team!!
Why do you say? Because the MOC braintrust can find room on their roster for Grosek but not Zino.
Let's be real. How important is Grosek? (ans.: of little consequence). What kind of upside does Grosek have? (ans.: nil)
(I know. I'm ranting...)
This ultimatum could backfire...
Hopefully he'll go along with a reassignment to Providence, because if he goes back to Russia, mark my words, we'll never see him again...
Hopefully the MOC braintrust will be smart enough to point out to Zino and his agent that Samsonov spent a season in the minors before the Bruins drafted him...and, that he'll get the same paycheck whether he's in Providence or Boston....and--he may not care--but I'll go see him play there (after I buy earplugs).

it sounds to me like Zino would play on a one way contract in North America but if he returns home he gets nothing- or than say a fee of say $25,000 or whatever for coming over. Hmmmm....I can only go by what I have read and certainly we are talking a bunch of hockey talent evaluators sitting down and determining his potential but he's supposedly a legit talent. I hope he stays but my money is after Green's money hits the books he's back in Siberia
