Gill played better than Grossmann, people are just looking for a scapegoat and since he's the new guy in the lineup, I guess it's him. If you want to blame a defenseman, blame Timonen. Worst game I've seen him play.. ever probably.
the legacy of philly sports, the backup is always better.

I don't think the puck ever got to him.

What set the pace for this game was Giroux missing that golden opportunity and Mason flubbing the Staal shot. Can't believe Giroux missed that still, that was a gifted goal and he didn't even touch it.

Not only a healthy scratch by the Flyers, but also passed over by 29 other teams. Everyone but Goon boy and Flyers media know this, he is not a regular season level player, let alone game 5 in playoffs player.

This call was the dumbest in a huge list of dumb decisions by our leader.

Grossmann is officially out for Game 6.

It could be a later than normal start time for Game 6, too. Not confirmed yet.

I'd like to think Gustafsson will be in for Gill in Game 6.

Kimmo played twice as many minutes as Gill. I agree that he didn't have the best game he's had but he made a lot more positive happen than Gill did. Go checkout the first shift of the 3rd period. Flyers had scoring chance and a lot of offensive zone time that was created by a nice breakout that Coburn and Timonen made happen.

Gus needs to play instead of Gill, especially since we need goals.

Biggest reason we lost today is probably the anemic 1st unit, and that starts with Kimmo ruining so many chances and letting the puck out of the zone. I can't get over how bad Kimmo played today. Although I agree with him on that last icing call, it looked like St Louis got a piece, or at least could have. But man, you gotta get to the red line when the games on the line.
That's still all coaching. Just because he fixed the ice-time in the last period possible in ducking game five doesn't mean it's okay now. Prior games have had just stupid ice-time distribution and at least 2 out of 3 periods, in a game we were down the whole time, had it too. If the distribution actually makes ****ing sense throughout the game and he makes better lineup decisions maybe we win. Who knows.

Timonen has been horrible on the first unit all season as well while Streit has been our best scoring D all season. People have been wanting them swapped for a while so if Timonen is still there and still horrible it's Berubes fault.

My guess is they will have a longer practice tomorrow than yesterday's. I will post the confirmation ASAP. There will be a better indication then.

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Akeson-Couturier-Read
Raffl-Laughton-Hall

Timonen-Coburn
Streit-MacDonald
Gustafsson-Schenn

Why this isn't the lineup is absolutely beyond me.

I put it at zero chance, Gil will play.

There should of been no scenario where he played today, so it's a lock he plays Tuesday.

The perfect line up for what players we have, should be a no,brainer.

I agree with you, I just think todays loss had more to do with so many players playing like **** than it did coaching decisions. Berube doesn't put them in the best position to win, but they didn't help themselves at all.

The fact that we have 14.50M per year tied up in Lecavalier, Streit, and Hartnell for eternity pretty much insures this team can't win a cup...too much cap room tied into players that aren't earning it. Sad but true

This has to be the lineup going into game 6. If Hartnell is back on the top line, I'm going to be pissed. He had a terrible game, but what else is new?

If Gus starts Tuesdsy, Berube is basically saying he screwed up today.

This is reactionary nonsense based on one bad play he made at the end of the game.

Streit was our best offensive defenseman all season, was top 10 in ES scoring among defensemen, and finished +3 despite being burdened with Grossmann most of the time. He also had a CF/CA of 18-10 today despite being stuck with Hall freaking Gill.

Exactly how I feel. He's makes good adjustments and has a good system but is some what responsible for two losses with personnel decisions. They need to play better they suck but they still could have pulled more wins out with the rangers not looking like a tower of strength.
