THIS DATE IN FLYERS' HISTORY: April 29, 1989

The Flyers recorded a 4-1 Game 7 win in Pittsburgh to advance to the Conference Finals. The Flyers' PK was extraordinary, scored a key SHG to make it 2-1, went 7-for-8 on kills and Ron Sutter was particularly impressive which earned him the game's second star honors. Ken Wregget made 39 saves and was named the game's top star as the replacement for Ron Hextall who suffered a sprained MCL injury the prior game.

The rangers are clearly below Flyers in terms of offense, but they are more opportunistic. And that was the problem with the Flyers in game 5, when they should have score, they missed.

Now, I am gonna be nasty and wish the coach change his gameplan, I think he has a superior team in hand and he should use it better. Lundqvist is a top 5 goalie and we need to bother him. Instead of fancy play, Flyers should focus to score by driving the net. Ugly goals are welcome for game 6. Just get the fu****g puck inside.

If there was ever a must win, it's now.

Please god put in Gus instead of Gill and Laughton instead of Rinaldo.

Coburn,Giroux,Voracek,Couturier should play +25min, unless we have a nice lead before 3rd period.
I know we have a game the next day but if we don't win this one there is no tomorrow.

I'd be very interested to see who skips out on the optional practice when you're facing elimination in the playoffs.

Think its a way for some of these guys to save a little face before Game 6. Feeling the Rangers might be playing a little softer seeing as the next night is in New York. If we can score first for a change... I think you're gonna see a bunch of these guys with very little push back while thinking about MSG.

The Flyers are way to resilient.

Go Get 'em boys! Let's see game 7!!!!

Yep, now that the season is on the line I want to see Berube ride his best players. 4th line shouldn't even get a shift as far as I'm concerned.

Sit Rinaldo for Gus, play 7 D by situation.

Play Akeson and Vinny until we get a lead, if we do then have Raffl and Hall take their spots. If we don't have the lead, they can just be PK specialists. Otherwise ride the G and Couts lines hard.

Hope Berube keeps the changes, I like the Schenn-G-Jake and Hartnell-Vinny-Simmonds lines much more.

I'd like it even more if we moved Schenn to RW, Read up to the first LW and Jake onto the 2nd RW, and have a Raffl - Couts - Simmonds third line, but I don't expect to see that many changes.

Force a game 7 and see what happens is all we can ask for right now.

I hope the players don't check the stats... the Rangers have a stellar record when leading a series 3 - 2.

Odin wants to see his son Gustafsson and the mighty warrior Laughton take them to battle tomorrow...

He says no one gets in to Valhalla if they're not in the lineup.

I don't see them putting Laughton in this series. If he's going to play it'll be Game 1 of the next series. I could be wrong, but I don't think they want to risk putting a rookie in there in an elimination game.

If you live in Philly, when I finally make it there, beers are on me if true !!
Can I trade it in for a game 6 win?

Our PP has to capitalize on any chances, no stupid penalties.

Rangers have smothered Giroux so other players need to steep up, hopefully Simmonds, B Schenn, Read and Coots.

A shutout or one goal against would be great but we can not go down two goals.

They probably won't play him, but having him replace Rinaldo wouldn't be a risk.

I agree, but I'm not sure they do.

The Flyers were playing some decent hockey in terms of possession and shots on goal until the Rangers took the lead in game 5 and then beat themselves in what had been a winnable game.

Berube will once again tell everybody that he liked a lot about their game and they just need better execution. He won't change a ****... Hal Gill and Zach Rinaldo will actually play Game 6 just because Berube doesn't like to take risks even if the potential reward is out there.

Like I said, at least the Rags were smart enough to scratch Carcillo when they think he's done enough.

It's not a risk. Laughton is better right now than Rinaldo is. Gustafsson is better than Gill is and provides what the offense has been lacking. Puck movement and the ability to make a pass out of the defensive zone. It's not that hard to figure out.

Yup, that those 2 moves are slam dunks.

Whoever wins this game will win the series, so hope Flyers pull it out
