- NY has Richards/Stepan and has already invested in St. Louis/Nash.

Obviously it would depend on asking price, but the Ducks have a lot of young players that could contribute now...

Etem, Vatanen, Rakell, Silfverberg, Palmieri, DSP, and Sbisa (although he doesn't possess the same value).

we're just gonna offer sheet Vatanen. If I was DW that would be my first move :p
seriously what would you match? I don't see how your internal budget could afford paying him 4+ mil, and I'd much rather pay him that then Boyle, soooo

He would be godly with datsyuk and x where x is basically anyone with above average shooting ability and a knack to get open. That being said we probably don't have the assets for him and cap room because of the moron Weiss would be kinda tight.

We could offer nhl ready in a year or so talent on defense but you wouldn't likely get the top talent projection wise. If the wings offered people it would be like mattias backman (2way defender good time in sel and about 10 games of ahl he is around 22 years old)prospect, Jakub Kindl or Brendan Smith, and say a first round pick next year.

How about if the Edler-Pavs offer gets sweetened up a bit, Edler and Hansen for Pavelski and Havlat? We give you a cost-controlled great 3RW and you get rid of Havlat's roster spot and salary.

Sedin-Sedin-Jensen/Havlat
Burrows-Pavelski-Kesler
Higgins-Matthias-Kassian
Richardson-Santorelli-Havlat

Ham-Tanev
Garrison-XXX
Stanton-Bieksa

vs

Hertl-Couture-Nieto
Marleau-Thornton-Wingels
Torres-Sheppard-Hansen
Hamilton-Desjardins-Brown

Vlassic-Braun
Edler-Burns
Irwin-Demers

They key is to improve their defense. Cup winners have unbelievable talent in the top 4 slots of defense. They are too top heavy up front which is part of the reason they have had only known heartbreak. The Sharks need to get a young talented defenseman with NHL experience plus a bunch of prospects and or picks.

It might sound steep, but quality centers are like gold. The Islanders and their fans should be drooling over a 1-2 combo of Tavares and Pavelski. The Caps and their fans should be drooling at the idea of pairing one of the best two way centers in the league with Ovechkin. The Panthers and their fans should love the idea of having an actual NHL caliber center. The Sens could be three deep (Turris, Spezza, and Pavelski) at center or it could lead to the exit of Spezza and the bounty he would bring. Either way, it is something that would make the Sens a legit pre-season playoff team.

If they could bring in Kulikov or Gudbranson from FLA (the rights to either player), Hamonic from NYI, Cowen from the Sens, or Alzner from the Caps, plus additional prospects and picks, it is a good deal.

They have Braun and Vlasic. Resign Demers, add the main piece from the Pavelski deal, and sign Orpik (leadership and grit) and Mark Fayne. They have Stuart as the 7th defenseman. On paper, that is a very solid defense.

Edler has not been at his best, and his value is not equal to Pavelski. No deal...

In the what have you done for me lately world that is the NHL, Vancouver fans should want no part of what it would take to get Pavelski for Edler right now.

The Ehrhoff at 50% for Pavelski scenario allows the Sharks to have some money to spend elsewhere to help fill another hole. Hoff may be a little older than you are looking for but is a bargain at that price.
