Bobby Ryan to the Philadelphia Flyers

No secret the Flyers are looking for another scoring winger, potential candidates are UFA Matt Moulson or possibly Bobby Ryan via a trade with the Senators. What would it take to get Ryan to Philly, would it be worth it?

Coburn +
or
Simmonds +
or
Couturier

Not much else of interest.

I think the Flyers would prefer a scoring winger with speed. Moulson and Ryan aren't exactly fast. Cammalleri would be available for free. They could offer up someone like Coburn for Pearson or in a package for E Kane. Furthermore, Ryan is a RW primarily, and the Flyers have experimented enough with playing guys out of position this season (Schenn/Lecavalier/Raffl/etc.).

We are not giving up anything for Ryan who very likely will be a free agent next year and a strong possibilty that he wants to sign with Philly.....perhaps at the trade deadline next year if he hasn't signed with Ottawa we might throw Ottawa a couple of draft picks for him....a 1st and a 3rd...but we are not giving up any of our young talented forwards for him when we likely can get him for nothing!

If Ottawa wants to retain him, they will.

The responses will be predictable to say the least.

There should be a policy for trade threads involving soon to be UFAs that prevents fans from regurgitating the same posts which state the obvious.

If someone is posting on HF, odds are they know the risks involved with trading UFAs, it requires no explanation...

Unless you're Bobby Ryan, you don't know that any more then the people who say it's a foregone conclusion that he's coming home to the Flyers.

Ottawa has a contractual advantage over every other team in the league. Add to that the fact that he seems to have enjoyed his time in Ottawa, so I think it's a fair assumption to make.

The reality is the Ottawa Senators will offer him a contract extension sometime this summer. If he declines the extension he likely is going to Philly or at least going to see what UFA market has in store. IMO you'll see the Sens trade Ryan this off season (likely to Philly) or he will be signed to an extension. Doubt he's dressing in a Sens uniform in October without a contract extension

I don't think there's a huge rush to get him re-signed. There are more pressing issues in Ottawa, namely Jason Spezza. Ottawa has a bunch of unrestricted free agents next off season including Ryan, Spezza, MacArthur, Anderson and Methot. There is a lot of work to be done.

No, the Sens wont sign Ryan to an extension this summer because it would be stupid for either side to reach a deal. The Sens wont want to commit after last season, and Ryan wont want to sign a deal after a career worst season.

And no, he's not "likely going to Philly". He's the most involved community guy on our team, he far surpasses his contractual obligations in terms of public appearances.. if the Sens offer him what he is worth, he will resign. If they don't, then clearly they dont want him that much and he'll go elsewhere. Maybe Philly.
