Quite a bit of time till July 1st, I'm sure they'll hammer out a deal.

Lets see what Halak wants and what the Isels are willing to give him. Since he's going to a team worser than the Caps I bet he's going to demand alot or go to UFA.

This would be awesome for Islanders if he signs. That would solve their goaltending issues pretty much immediately.

Great news, now put the full court press on Halak.

Get JT/Okposo/and whoever else to start whispering sweet nothings into his year, take him to the Barclay's Center, do whatever you need to do.

If we can get Halak locked up before the Draft, big win.

Didn't Halak basically refute what Oates said? Or am I mis-remembering?

Like this move from the Isles perspective, and said a couple of weeks ago that this is exactly what Snow should do.

For the people ripping on Halak - at least he is a legit NHL goalie. Something that the Isles lacked pretty much since the 2013 play-off's. The bar is set really low for the Islanders to improve in goal.

That was a given but this is exactly what the doctor ordered, should he sign. 28 years old so he has years to offer and has shown to be a quality starter.

Looking forward to next year with this huge hole in net filled.

I don't even know if the Caps defense is better than the Isles.

Great move by the Isles... I just cant see him re-signing there b/c the team is building. He's a good goalie and will certainly get a few offers. If the Isles can sign him, it would be a great pickup.

He's going to a team where he'd be the uncontested #1 starter for the first time in his career, and there aren't a lot of other teams that can promise him that. I think he'd be perfectly happy to sign with the Isles.

If you saw the horror show that was Isles goaltending this past season, even league average for us is like winning the lottery.

Who cares what he wants? Even if it's 5yrs/25 million it doesn't hurt the team financially.

Now 15yrs, 67.5mill...that's an entirely different story.

Good move by the Isles. And I guess the Caps think Holtby will rebound next season.
