OTTAWA and TORONTO

Sound the alarms, don't let me down HF and rip this crazy idea to shreds.

OTTAWA
Jason Spezza
2nd round pick

to

TORONTO
Nazem Kadri
Jake Gardiner

Spezza is from Toronto, grew up a leafs fan...

Also please no "spezza is a rental" useless comments. It is universally known Spezza would love to play for the leafs at some point in his career, and for fantasy purposes, Spezza would be a SIGN and TRADE if he were traded to the leafs. He would need to have Toronto on his top 20 teams list (modified no trade) to even go there in the first place.

HAVE FUN

As a Leafs fan I would rather just hope that Spezza makes it to FA and wants to sign in Toronto.

Can't imagine having Kadri and Gardiner playing against the Leafs so any times a year.

That's a lot for Toronto to give up to upgrade Kadri with an aging center.

Sens fans have talked about this a lot and it is the best return really.

We get a young top 6 forward in Kadri, a young defenceman that can come in and help our core and a first round pick, either to make up for this year or for next year in the McDavid sweepstakes.

It's just hard to imagine sending our captain and one of our all time best players to our biggest rivals.

my personal opinion on trading spezza follows this preferential order

1. dont trade spezza
2. take a lesser return from anybody other than the leafs
3. relocate the franchise
4. trade spezza to the leafs

Bad value for the Leafs. Like, really bad.

Trading youth AND a 1st (8th overall) for an aging and declining Spezza who is on an expiring contract. Sorry OP it's a really bad proposal for the Leafs

So we just cough up a lottery pick as a throw in? Is Spezza worth a lottery pick straight up?

And if he'll sign in Toronto why wouldn't we just take him for free next summer?

And don't make a useless comment like Kulemin is a UFA because we all know for sure that Kulemin would sign in Ottawa.

That's not even close to as bad as the OP. He didnt say 'Kessel and Reilly for Greening and Michalek'. Yes its bad, but common.

The value of Ottawa's players is low because they all had mediocre seasons aside from those that Sens fans cite as being "untouchable".

This is what makes the trade board such a disaster for Ottawa-based deals.

Hell no!

We're not giving you two of our best young players for a rental Spezza, we'll just sign him for free if he wants to come here so bad.

Over payment for Spezza. The leafs next number one centre and a D-man who seemed to break out towards the end of the season for a 30 year old who is exiting his prime... It would make Ottawa better than it would make the leafs.

This is one of the worst proposals that I have ever seen on this board, which is really saying something.

I can see you not wanting to see Spezza on the leafs, but why not Kadri? He would be your best center....

Leafs get hosed on this...

Not a chance. Turris is still here and not a chance you can argue Kadri is better than Turris.

This if *** brutal for the Leafs and was embarrassingly bad when you had us giving a first as well.

Only on HFBoards are the Leafs a dumb team for not giving up our best young players and picks for a #1C who has had serious injury troubles, will be 32 years old by the time the puck drops next year, and and will be a UFA after next season

Seriously HFBoards make up your bi-polar minds. First the Leafs suck because we don't rebuild the "right way" by losing a lot and drafting high end players. Now the Leafs suck because we won't just freely give up what few young studs we have for your breaking down vets.

Only on HFBoards does someone think Kadri, Gardiner and a high first is the correct price for an aging centre who has been often injured and whose best years are behind him.

Hmm really curious how this will happen?

Seems like Spezza is getting older and older by the thread.

Did any leaf fan bother to read that this would be a sign and trade? OP clearly says it's not going to be a rental deal.
