Last season Wade Belak took on more of the enforcer role with Toronto...took on all comers too like Laraque, Brashear and Worrell......Domi will still be there to back him up.
He was signed for last season. I believe he's in England now.
Quote:
Why did they leave Langdon unprotected? He seemed to be very good at that role.
Because players who can play a regular NHL shift are more important then enforcer's who can't play hockey. Langdon seems like a nice guy and was a great team player, but he can't play to save his life. Fighting is his only strongpoint and the Canucks can't afford to utilize a roster spot on a guy that's only good with his fists.
Isles have Godard and Cairns as the tough guys with Asham,Weimer and Scatchard as the middleweights.Isles are in great shape in the toughness department.
I guess Brennan and Flinn since Norton is out until December at the earliest. Lappy of course can go but usually only when the Kings are getting their butts kicked and need some inspiration.
stock is our fighter
mccarthy is there to make sure that guys like worrell don't fight stock (even though sandy will probably get his arse kicked in these situations)
lapointe will fight whenever he feels that it's necessary
grosek likes to wrestle
samsonov will only fight sami kapanen (and slap him around, too)
boynton is a tough SOB, and can certainly hold his own
gill is a 6'7" mountain of...feathers. he's afraid of pierre-marc bouchard
odonnell doesn't drop em like he used to, but can still throw em
but the meanest, toughest SOB of the bunch is joe thornton. it's a big reason why he's so much fun to watch- he can score a great goal, dish a pass through 3 guys legs, and then beat the tar out of a so-called tough guy. aside from the ultra heavies in the league, i think big joe can just about handle anyone.
