Skating is one factor. He has really good hands but idk if he can be that much of a puck possession player in the NHL. He'd probably just be mostly a finisher. To be a 1st line PF he'd also have to get a lot meaner.
You are making him sound a lot like Nik Antropov, is that a good comparison? I liked Antropov a lot when he was in the NHL, he just always seemed to be overpaid.
Seems more and more unlikely he's signing with Chicago. He's a UFA August 15th, only Calgary and Florida appear to be in play here. (some twitter rumblings about Boston, but that seems like a longshot). Burke loves his Americans, and DT didn't draft him, so Calgary may have an inside track.
He will most likely make the same wherever he goes and will sign an ELC for the maximum allowed which is $925,000 per year.
I think for two years.
Absolutely correct. So that means comfort with the org and opportunity to play quickly will most likely be determining factor to getting KHayes signed. Both us & Calgary lack depth on the RW so both of us can offer him a good chance at playing. Our ace in the hole is gotta be his brother and hopefully that will trump the desire to keep playing with his college teammates.
"I'm rooming with my little brother, Kevin in a really nice hotel. The hotel is a lot better than I expected. Playing with Kevin is awesome. It’s one of the main reasons I wanted to come over here and play, to get a chance to play with him, so it’s been a really cool experience. We’ve always had that type of chemistry so it’s been nice to come over here and play at a high level on the same line and contribute.
There can be that brotherly competition. It’s always good to push one another and get the best out of one another. It’s like having a little competition."
Quote from Jimmy Hayes the Panthers just put up on their website. Good stuff
So can someone give me a scouting report on this kid? I'm not really familiar with the Boston College program other than our M&M's. What kinda player is this guy? He's a few inches shorter and about 20 pounds lighter than his older brother.
Is he a better skater than Jimmy? Better or worse shot? Are they even comparable really or do the similarities end at the end of their last name?
