Ovechkin to NYI

The Isles have the capspace and depth to get Washington its best offer if they ever decide to rebuildn

NYI
Ovechkin

WAS
1st round 5th overall
Pulock
One of okposo/strome
Possible other piece

Thats a kick ass return for washington. All possible integral pieces for a new direction. Isles add Ovechkin as they move to Brooklyn.

No interest in Ovechkin. Too pricey for too little

Not for a first, Strome/Okposo and Pulock. He scores. And nothing else

First of all youd have an elite player on two lines. Therefore creating a formidable 1-2 punch and forcing opposing teams to stand up against two of the games best. With halak in net, the time for the isles is now if they can sign him. New ownership is around the corner and most new owners make a splash. Yeah it sucks to lose these pieces but even still we have a ton of depth.

Yeah OK. Considering the contract you wont do much better. Who has the assets and capspace to make this kind of trade?

If you are willing to cough up a price like that, you might as well go for Weber.

Regardless, I'd rather keep what we have.

Trading a first when they have to give up next years (or this years) isnt good long term. Plus Okposo and Strome actually have value and Strome is still young as is Okposo. Ovechkin is amazing, at scoring goals, and thats about it.

^^^^^*. This no smart team should give the pieces it would take to trade for Ovi. His kinda game will never win anything of importance.

Lol, that package doesn't let you sniff Ovechkin.

And Isles aren't moving to BK until after next season.

This kind of thread is pretty useless

NYI isn't at the stage to acquire a player like him

Ovenchicken is a dominant player and one of the best athletes in the game. I'm not saying the Isles should trade for him. I think a superstar trade is exactly the wrong thing to do right now, but this is still a guy who can control a game and drag a team up the standings.

To the OP, maybe you should consider changing that handle of yours. Vanek is no longer an Islander.

If its Okposo, the value isn't terrible(Although still not enough for WSH).

If its Strome, the value is way off.

No incentive whatsoever for WSH to trade arguably the very best goal scorer in the league.

Pullock and Strome are both nothing more then good prospects right now. The top 5 1st is again the same thing. A great prospect but no guarantee.

WSH wont move Ovy unless they get an already established Top 6 talent, plus other pieces like top prospects and picks.

There's this crazy idea that the Caps don't want to trade Ovi for deals that aren't worth it. Absolutely insane right?

So we're giving up all these assets for Ovi just to put him on the 2nd line and keep him away from Tavares + Okposo? LOL.

A trade like this is best reserved for EA Sports. If Ovi ever hits the trade block you absolutely try and put in your best offer, but I just don't see that happening.

Not interested in paying what it would realistically cost. Our young pieces will be far more valuable to the team winning games that OveChicken ever would be. Plus...He's going back to Russia in a few years. No thanks
