Arthur Michael Robert Weaver ''Mike'' Weaver

We're keeping him right?

The whole world seems to deflect on his skates. Plus, he's mobile and a good veteran.

I had to stop and rewind the play after the Weisse goal to show my GF what he did. I was just like, this is why that goal happened. SO many other blocks too, so solid.

He's been awesome for us.

Also, I know he's not the biggest fella, but does anyone else find that he emanates a pretty potent alpha vibe? He looks like such a mean, aggressive SOB, I wouldn't want to mess with him.

Full player names always make me lol.

Great acquisition by Bergevin. Just like Weise and Vanek. In Bergevin I trust.

Acquired for free with the 5th round pick Snow gifted us in the Vanek deal. Unreal.

I can't complain about him at all since he joined this team. I would be all for him coming back with the right deal.

In the off season :

- Dump Bouillon
- Re-Sign Weaver for a year , maybe 2.
- Profit

It was actually our 2015 5th rounder.

I think Weaver is the obvious right replacement for Boullion next year. If somene offers him the moon then you have to let him go but all things being equal he's the ideal vet who can come in and out of the lineup as the young guys fight for spots.

Doesn't hurt he's RH either. Really superb pro scouting and asset management by the front office this year. Vanek's the shiny piece, but Wiese and Weaver have solidified our bottom pairing/4th line in huge ways. Great additions to the team.

Which hopefully turns out to be quite a bit later than the Isles one we picked up.

Well, with Murray and Bouillon gone, we can keep Weaver in case Beaulieu and Tinordi dont develop as planned.

If we let Franky Bo go, and the salary is reasonable, along the lines of what he is making now, definitely less than an average player, the guy is gold. Ideally, we rotate Tinordi, Beaulieu, and him on the 3rd pairing.

Assuming he doesn't ask for the moon for someone with his skill-set, we should retain him to at the very least serve as Bouillon has this season. A #7 that can cover in case of injury or shuffled lines. Top 4 is retained as is, with the bottom pairing available for Beaulieu and Tinordi.

He's really solid.

He's a must sign for me. This pick up was a real victory for our pro scouting, he was the oasis in the desert that was the Panthers defence.

If his current level of play is what he's capable of it would be a real sign of strength and depth if Weaver was a fourth pairing guy next year.

Everybody knows Vanek from the stats but the pro scouts really pulled rabbits out of hats with Weise and Weaver. Very pleased.

Perfect bottom pairing RD to use to mentor Beaulieu/Tinordi. Great pick up by Bergevin, hopefully he's re-signed. Really impressed me with how smart he is on the ice.

Good point. Pro scouting was one of the most questionable part of this team's management for years and after Briere/Drewiske it was easy to write them off again. Weise/Weaver have been real impressive finds.

If we can't sign a top shutdown D for the top 6, he should be back.

Weise, Weaver and Vanek are looking like the best pick ups of all the NHL teams at the deadline. Even if Weise was earlier.

He's at that point in his career where having fun playing the game is probably more important than $$$
The teams that would open the vaults are not likely to be Top Drawer.
My guess he stays...

I think he is a good fit in the mix with Beaulieu Tinordi Pateryn and Nygren for #5-6 ice time.

...assuming Markov and Subban are both signed, of course.

Agreed, and it makes me wonder if "Bergewin" will be listed for the GM award this year because of it. I remember last year the analysts were saying he didn't do enough at the trade deadline but this year was clearly different.

Looking back at the Trade Deadline Bergy did the most to improve his team.
