Surprising to hear that about Kolzig. Given the Capitals' knack for blowing 3-1 series leads, I figured he would have been the unfortunate victim of at least one.

I think those were all on earlier guys like Beaupre...I'm not sure, but I'm guessing he was the goaltender of record for that 1992 loss to Pittsburgh? I'm fairly sure at least...

Indeed, it was Beaupre in 1992. Bob Mason lost to the Islanders in 1987, Jim Carey to Pittsburgh in 1995, and Semyon Varlamov to Montreal in 2010.

Gilmour barely over Linden.

I think Justin Williams has actually caught up since 2007, not sure if he's in the top few yet.

June 1, 2006, CAR vs. BUF, 4-2 victory - 1g, 2a (2+4=6)
June 19, 2006, CAR vs. EDM, 3-1 victory - 1g, 0a (3+4=7)
May 28, 2013, LA vs. SJ, 2-1 victory, 2g, 0a (5+4=9)
April 30, 2014, LA vs. SJ, 5-1 victory, 0g, 1a (5+5=10)

So Williams has 5 game 7s, 2.0 PPG in game 7s, ten points, tying him with Jagr for 3rd all-time.

I have to think he still has a few game 7s left in him.

and you know what's totally nuts? williams not only has a point in each game seven, but has scored or assisted on the GWG in 5 out of the 7.

Justin Williams now has 7 goals and 7 assists in 7 career Game 7s.

Also, No. 14 scored that 14th point with 14:14 left in overtime.
that's some bill barilko stuff right there.

I am pretty sure that a Brad Richards vs. Justin Williams game 7 would just keep going in overtime until the ice melted.

maybe this needs a new thread. but justin williams has to be the most anonymous non-goalie smythe winner right? maybe even including goalies. i mean, at least claude lemieux and goring were guys that had led their teams in scoring in the rs.

and i think most of us will remember him, just like we still remember rusty fedotenko ten years ago, but that's gotta be a guy where kids a decade from now are asking "who?" and you'll answer: "he was mr. game seven." and the kid will say: "yeah, that's nice but..."

I think he has a leg up on Roger Crozier.
