Sin City

So yeah, I definitely missed the boat on the theatre run, but after taking the time to view the two trailers (which are by far the best ever) my interest for the August 16th release is piqued. I don't mean to say I expect the movie to be as good as the trailers, but it looks very good, and something that would be right up my alley.

I have to ask though, does the movie have replay value and is it worth a purchase. I ask because I am seriously considering buying it, as my brithday will bring in a bunch of money (some which I need to pay people back with), and I'm seriouisly considering addin this to my purchase list.

I would definitely rent it before buying it. It's pretty special... if you don't like it, it's a definite waste.

Honestly I might just wait a few weeks. The Blockbuster in my area just had 3 or 4 positions pop up and I have a reference (and not some other teenager) to use. Normally they don't hire 16 year olds apparently but its supposed to not matter as long as I can work late.

Then again, I don't know if I could wait long enough until I got or was denied the job to watch it.

As an aside, it would honestly be a dream first job. 10 free rentals a week and staff get dibs on new releases half a week before they line the shelves.

Thought it was very good. Loved Mickey Rourke's character.

I'd say it's worth purchasing.

Cool movie, but definitely not for everyone. I say rent first, but if you like it, odds are, you'll like it enough to buy it.

And Mickey Rourke did rule.

I thought it was a cool movie to see once, I'm glad I saw it it the theatre...but I don't have any desire to watch it on DVD now...

I'd recommend renting it first before buying.

I loved it, but then I was a big fan of Miller's comics. R. Rodriguez did a tremendous job in making it a translation instead of an adaptation, even though one or two lines suffered because of that. I'll go along with everyone and say rent before buying. Even if you like dark gritty action, heavy on the violence, it's still not palatable to everyone.

I'd say an average movie goer would probably give it 2 1/2 out of 5 stars
Lovers of violent comic action would give it 3 1/2 stars

Fans of the comic... 100 stars.

I'm eager to see A Dame to Kill For...

I'm thinking about renting it when it comes to my small town.

Thirded. Or fourthed. Or whatever. I had a lot of fun watching it in the theater, but I agree it's not for everyone.

I enjoyed the film as well. Rourke was great. Also liked Elijah Wood.

I was skeptical of it going in since I am not into comics and a lot of comic book movies have been trash lately but this one really stuck out and was about as well done as anything Ive seen in quite a while

I work at Blockbuster and I've had the DVD since Wednesday. There's some cool special features, nothing spectacular.

The movie itself was awesome though, which makes it worth buying.

Is this worth a rental? if not, any suggestions would be great.

If there is only one movie you rent this summer, make it Sin City.
