Rick Olczyk gone? Bill Scott in?

I was gone on vacation for a two weeks in late April but I didn't notice this.

I don't recall when Rick Olczyk was let go by the Oilers.

There's a brief mention on Jim Matheson's site.

"With Brad Treliving leaving the Coyotes as GM Don Maloney’s right-hand man, I wonder if ex-Oilers assistant GM Ricky Olczyk has a shot to replace him?"

http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/201...this-n-that-8/

On the Oilers website, there's a Bill Scott mentioned as the Oilers Assistant GM, Promoted on April 21, 2014.

But Olczyk is not mentioned there.

maybe theyll get rid of MIKE SILLINGER too and develop some prospects properly
Director of Player Development
Mike Sillinger is in his fourth season as the Oilers’ Director of Player Development after a lengthy career in the National Hockey League. Sillinger works with Edmonton’s prospects in both the AHL and ECHL and with Oilers draft picks in the junior and college ranks. ...more

Dude-- I was on boat in antarctica a few years ago and still kept up on what the oilers where doing--being on Vacation is no excuse for not paying attention

This. The Oilers would be the last thing I would stress myself about on vacation . Although I am guilty of paying those ridiculous hotel internet fee to stream an Oilers game.

Haven't you heard? Nobody develops players better than the Edmonton Oilers. Quote, unquote.

Maybe the Oilers will lose Sillinger because he got poached by a team that is much much worse at developing players. Like maybe Chicago will suddenly decide they need to start developing their own players.

If you haven't figured out all the snarky comments, Ricky Olczyk was "let go" as the yearly designated scape goat to try and appease Tier 1 fans that the team is actually trying to improve for next season so those fans can continue to throw vast amounts of money at the Team. They were running out of people they could throw to the wolves, unless it was a "old boy" which will never happen, so they choose him. Next year it will be one of the ice girls, as long as she is not related to any of the management or assistant coaches.

Of course it will be. they will hire someone this summer to be fired the year afterwards, say a assistant GM, that way they can alternate a firing of a coach and a AGM every year. So it doesn't look suspiciously like the people actually responsible are complete morons and have driven this team and its heritage to the ground, where they ran over it with a semi trailer several times
