$6 million dollar blueline

<code>Brad Ference $1,320,000
Cale Hulse $1,100,000
Rodoslav Suchy $1,100,000
Paul Mara $1,000,000
Ossi Vaananen $900,000
David Tanabe $800,000

Total $6,220,000<code>

Five NHL teams pay one defenseman more than our whole blueline makes. Wings Lidstrom $10 mill, Blues Pronger $9.5 mill, Avs Blake $9.3, Devils Stevens $6.9 mill, and Rangers Leetch $6.6 mill (Stars Zubov comes in close with $6 mill).

When the Av's have Forsberg, Sakic, Selanne, Blake, Foote, and Aebischer on the ice, those 6 make $7 million more than our total team salary.

Excellent title for the thread, Greg. Scary thought, though. I know these young guys have seen alot of NHL ice for their age, but still! Time will tell, and I sure hope Burke stays healthy this year!

WHOA! I just noticed Ference is our top paid blueliner...has the whole world finally gone mad?!?

Great work Greg. At the risk of souding repetitive, "you get what you pay for".....Tanabe is the only D capable of carrying and passing the puck with any sort of confidence and competence, which means, our good group of fwds. will not receive clean quick outlet or transition type passes negating their potential effectiveness. In our zone, with the possible exception of Spiller who we have still have to see in NHL regular season action, all of them are often slow to read the play or misread the play defensively, but this year hopefully we will have Burke to save us more often. To think we could have still had Teppo for basically the same cost of Sillinger, Hulse and Simpson. Teppo and Tanabe may have made for a nice power play combo in our new rink in our new duds. I know water over the dam! dam!
