So... maybe this is an area where the Rangers can use their pocketbook advantage in the new CBA era. Russian players being held for ransom become less valuable to teams like Pittsburgh that are less wealthy - think we could trade for him? No way he was on the market before, but maybe now...?

Hence the "do not have any contact with the russian teams" order that bettman issued. Bettman and the suposedly poorer teams will never allow the big market teams to have that sort of advantage. They'll take their chances with the courts by just grabbing players first before allowing money advantage to play that much of a difference.

I don't think that teams should pay "Russian Ransom", to get players. Sign players that want to play here and that have legit contracts. If they don't have escape clauses then thats their agents fault. Let then play over there until the contractual obligations that they signed are over.

Why would the Pens let him go or trade him he was a #2 overalll, you know every time a good young isnt signed right away or something everyone on these NYR board throws out posts saying " We should sign for them or trade for them"

First things NYR dont have the prospects to get players like Kovalchuk, Malkin, Malone etc.. and I menntion those names because those are themost recent talked about. And as a NYR fan I am not ready to see 1st rounders atleast multiple ones get traded for one player.

Do you HONESTLY and REALISTICALLY think Atlnata, Pitts are going to let any of them playeers go,seriously Idoubt it and they will match any offer and refuse almost any trade unless its an over payment, IMO.

Also Malkin is has Pitts rights till 2008 and they will have him signed in the next 3 years, thats just a no brainer.
