Keep track on who the Oil Kings draft in the CHL import draft

http://t.co/9EC4EcQ97Q

OKs have number 58. Anyone know why teams pass, especially in the first round? Why not just take a flyer on someone?

Marsel Ibragimov is Oilkings' 1st round pick, I suspect they won't take a 2nd rounder.

Each team only allows maximum of 2 non-North American players in their system. Since Oil Kings drafted Marcel Ibragimov, which means Eller or Kulda will be gone next season.

I think they expect Kulda to play Pro in NA, or maybe back home.

I wonder if he'll come over and play here, most of the players picked late in this draft don't come. If he does where does he fit in the pairings here?

I understand that, but why not draft additional players so you have more options?

Who knows, I know the Oil Kings seem to get all of their Import players over, so I don't see this as any different.

From the tiny amount of info I can find on this guy, it looks like he's from Dynamo Moscow's Junior Program, but was picked by Dynamo Minsk in the KHL Draft. Good chance they've talked to him and have an idea that he's willing to come over here.

They must have two imports and it applies to every team in WHL, OHL, and QMJHL. European junior players are not willing to be in the limbo. They want to play.

Kulda is most likely to make the jump for sure. OKs would not use a overage & import spot on one player.

Laxdal took a job as head coach of the Texas Stars in the AHL.

That really sucks for the Oil Kings but good luck to him.

The Oil Kings will be fine. Steve Hamilton is very capable. Great opportunity and fit for Laxdall. Wish him all the best.

I think there's more of a chance Lazar is back here than people think, especially with Ottawa signing Legwand. He's obviously the C if he's back. I could see guys like Bertolucci, Orban and Sautner getting letters next season, and I believe they'll have an overage spot to fill(Orban and Sautner will likely be the only two they have returning); so the guy they fill that spot with could get one too like Kieser did this year.

In what may be the most obvious decision in sports history, the OKs name Steve Hamilton head coach. Congrats, Steve.

Hopefully he's a good coach.

I remember during the PA series, I saw him and Cheeseman ripping into some kids on the way out of the tunnel. Really soured me on the both of them.

He is a good coach. Coach of the year two years running in the AJHL.

Oil Kings will be fine.

Appears to have both the energy, know how, and intangibles to relate to and build up these kids.

Tough to lose Laxdal, he did an amazing job and is due major kudos, but this transition should be mainly seemless. Apart from the gaping holes left with our graduating players.

I guarantee you they would have if Kulda had not been drafted. Since he is, there is a strong chance he's playing pro next year instead of comng back as an overage.

You're as close as anyone to the team from the Edmonton Media, how do you see the roster shaping up for the start of the season?

Young down the middle, that might be the biggest concern. Everything else will be OK.

Less than 2 weeks till training camp starts!! Any thoughts on the season and who we may be missing to start the season that could be with their NHL team but may be back.Looking forward to home opener for the Banner raising.

Success of the team basically hinges on whether Ottawa keeps Lazar or sends him back. If he's back they're near the top of the East again IMO, if not they'll be fighting for a playoff spot. I'd expect they'll look at picking up a 20 year old C again when teams have to cut down to 3.

Won't the blueline be a "bit" rough compared to this past season? This is assuming Reinhart doesn't come back or even can.
