That's probably the right way to go about it. If the team is winning then we can let Galchenyuk heal some more. If we aren't then he can replace a weak fish.

I'd like to see him in the lineup before game 2 of the SCF.

i know Gionta is our captain and all but if Galchenyuk is ready, performance speaking, you take him out... he's a one trick pony..... down the wing, shot to the crest and thats it.

If Galchenyuk is ready now (I don't think he is just yet), then I would play him in game 1 to test how rusty he is.

I wouldn't play him in game 5 or game 6, and risk losing because of a player who is rusty and hasn't played for long.

If Therrien sees that Galchenyuk is ready, I would put him on the second line over bournival and move bournival down to the third.

Chucky has so much talent compared to Bournival, and it would be a mistake to chose Bournival over Galchenyuk, even with how Bournival is playing. I would take Prust out of the lineup though.

That's what you want in the playoffs....a ****storm of controversy by scratching your captain.

I haven't been too thrilled with Gionta's performance this playoffs but he's not going anywhere.

Prust is going to be flying against Rangers.. He's going to want to prove they made a mistake letting him be on the opposite side of this ECF

Yeah definitely don't take out our captain. Gio hasn't been playing well, but either way he is a leader in the locker room, and encourages the rest of the players with his leadership

Bournival has played well but realistically he's the only one who can be scratched besides prust

Man, that's gonna be a hard decision to make. Still a good problem to have, though.

Also, we might have to consider that Therrien will want to get him back gradually. So it's gonna be the 4th line for his first 1-2 games, I guess. Then he moves up, depending on how things go.

A 4th line with guys like Briere, Chucky, Weisse or Prust. Do we have a 'me gusta' emoticon?

Who need goons when you have speed, puck possession and scoring from your 4th line?

You sit Briere?
sit Gionta we are one of four remaining teams for the cup, you play your best players. You cannot take out Weies, Briere, Prust, Bournival so has to be Gio.

Fully aware that it will never happen, but would you rather have a 90% ready Galchenyuk instead of a 100% Gionta with Bourque and Eller ?....man, that would be a heck of a line..........the only forward that has not contributed offensively is Gionta.

Also, not playing Galchenyuk could easily discourage him. I wouldn't want to discourage one of our future stars by playing Prust who hasn't even been playing well.

Already, Galchenyuk is barely given a chance in the regular season. If he is ready, play him.

Well the way MT used Prust last game (with Plekanec in the last PK)... it sure doesn't look like a no brainer.

Bournival brings great energy, but that's about it... he'll probably sit when Chucky's ready...

The only guy Prust can be scratched for is Moen since they both have the same role on the PK.

If you put Chucky in for Prust, you have to move someone into Prust's PK spot and that could be a disruption.

Well yes and no.

Theoretically yes but the Rangers PP has been terrible.

Yeah, no. Gionta is still great defensively.

It will probably be Bournival or Prust that sits.

The team wants to win the Stanley cup, if theyre winning without its too bad, but i'll take a cup over not discouraging Galchenyuk.

As for Gionta, he's been great at everything but scoring. There's no way you can scratch him.

You cant sit your capt./ gio is there as a shutdown/character guy who will either take a large pay cut or not be playing for the Habs next yr

You still cant sit him

I'd definitely take a cup without Galchenyuk, but Galchenyuk simply helps them win.

So why discourage him? We can win without discouraging him, your making it sound as if the only way we can win is by not playing him.

Gionta, Bournival, Prust, and Briere could see some shuffling when Galchenyuk comes back in.

I could see this:

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gallagher
Galchenyuk-Plek-Vanek
Bourque-Eller-Gionta/Bournival
Bournival/Prust-Briere/Bournival-Weise

Realistically speaking, it will probably be Bournival that gets sent out or Prust if he looks like hes not playing well again.

I would put Galchenyuk in for Bourque. Bourque was a monster versus Tampa, yes, but was rather invisible vs. Boston. Galchenyuk already has proven chemistry with Eller which is key.

Max-DD-Gally
Chucky-Eller-Gionta
Bournival-Plek-Vanek
Prust-Briere-Weise

Top line=concerned with goals
2nd and 3rd line=mix of good D and goalscoring
4th line=energy plus goals

Doesn't get much better than that IMO. Our depth is so great these playoffs/this year. Remember when Streit/Dandenault/Weber/Diaz were taking turns on the fourth line? LOL

Not to mention the fact that we have 7 capable dman, and then an 8th who specializes in thunderous bodychecks despite horrible puck movement/skating (Murray).

Thank you Bergevin.
