Lucas Lawson to JYP

SM League team JYP Jyväskylä has announced one year contract with Lucas Lawson:

JYP is the same team Jarkko Immonen came to NY Rangers. Please, tell me everything you know about Lucas. Does he have a chance to make a positive impact to our team or is he a miss? What are his strenghts and weaknesses?

I don't know if there's a whole lot I can say Miklu--have seen him a few times on TV for Hartford. He was a 3rd-4th liner for them. He's got decent size but didn't seem all that aggressive. And didn't put up a lot of points. I don't know if he's someone to get really excited about.

A decent signing imo. Maybe a second liner for us but it's still hard to say since I haven't seen him play at all.

Do ECHLers play good in Finland?

To be honest Padawan he was going nowhere with us. When he was signed as a free agent out of Maine U. he didn't look like a bad signing. I've read somewhere that at least in the past he'd get down on himself and lose confidence. He never really cemented himself in Hartford. Hopefully he works out better for you.

If he had a future with the Rangers, then he wouldn't have signed with us. He feels that he might get a push for his career playing well in Finland. So at least he has a personal goal which might get him to play better. We'll see how he performs.

Well you never know-- if he does play well for you he won't be the first North American who has resurrected his game overseas.

I really don't think you're in for anything special... He wasn't really that impressive for us.

I'd be surprised if he put up 15 points.

Not usually. I would say that larger numbers of impact players come straight from NCAA to Finland.
