jovo and radivoivich (sp?). quick fight with some big punches. jovo won the fight, although radi got some shots in.

then on the next shift arvedson did something to gratton that pissed him off really bad. canucks got a late pp out of the retaliation.

canucks win 2-0.

hedberg almost scored on the EN but d. sedin stopped it (thought it was a pass).

thank god preseason is over. this was their best game according to shorty.

Good job by the Canucks, nice game with some rough stuff.

Bring on the season, much less radio and more tv!

Sounds as though I missed the best preseason game there was.

Some quotes from a review article:

Quote:
Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison each marked the board for the first time this pre-season, while Dan Cloutier and Johan Hedberg shared the shut-out.
Quote:
Keane almost certainly earned some ink on Brian Burke letterhead tonight. He had no points, and didn't register a shot, but was plus-1 in 13:26 of ice time and checked like the three-time Stanley Cup winner he is.
Quote:
Todd Bertuzzi drifted around like a surly bear banging and thrashing in the corners when he wasn't muscling into the slot for a shot on goal. He set-up Morrison's third period powerplay marker that put Vancouver up by two.
Quote:
Hedberg again displayed a stick that puts half the defenders in the league to shame. With just seconds left in a Mattias Ohlund penalty he corralled a dump-in, stepped up with Coyote checkers converging, and threaded a 40-foot breakaway pass to centre ice just as the big Swede stepped out of the box. Sean Burke gloved Ohlund's wrist shot, but Hedberg should still get an assist just for making the pass.
Quote:
Once again Jason King made it next to impossible for Canuck coaching staff to send him down. He was a fury on the wing with the Twins. He had three shots in the third and was shockingly sound defensively as Vancouver choked the Dogs off late.
Quote:
You don't see Ed Jovanovski drop the gloves very often, but when he does, it's scary. He swings mellon-busters every time. Just ask Adam Deadmarsh. Well, now you can ask Branko Radivojevic. He challenged Jovocop at centre ice in an attempt to lift his team. There were only three punches thrown. Jovo gave one, took one, and then crumpled the scrappy Coyote winger with a concrete right to end it.
Quote:
Chris Gratton went loopy like a carny in a bottle of whisky trying to get at Magnus Arvedson. A lot of stretched sweaters and few leather rashes, but no fists thanks to some superb grappling by referees Terry Gregson and Kelly Sutherland. It could have easily gone nuclear.

The Coyotes spent the next 20-minutes trying to chase down Arvedson for some unseen infraction. They never caught him and never caught up on the scoreboard either.
I wonder what Arvy did to get under the skin of Gratton and the 'Nucks are really going to benefit from Hedberg's puck handling skills for sure. As someone else already said... hope Cloutier doesn't get any bright ideas and try to imitate Hedberg here.

Yes, but it's Calgary the Canucks are playing. The Canucks don't seem to play well against Calgary remember?
