Pretty much cost us this whole rangers series. This game he was awful. He can't skate anymore. His passes were constantly picked off, in our zone, and playing the PP. With his crappy clearing attempt 2 games ago, and his play tonight, it's time to move on from him. I really think Murray can skate faster than him now. We need a replacement asap, most likely going to happen through a trade.

What part of his game is good, really good? Is it his shots that are 10 feet wide. His passes that get picked off, or his slow lateral movement or his inability to clear it in our zone. Maybe it's him transitioning and having Price and Tokers bail him out every time he got beat in the playoffs.

So, what part of his game is 'really good'? Did you not see his 4 passes tonight that were picked off? He was BRUTAL tonight and he was very below average all playoffs.

Still stand by my statement that we should have moved Markov at the deadline. Now we get nothing for him, or have to pay 4 mill for him next year and watch him just deteriorate.

I think Markov can still go, but not at the money and term he'll be asking. He'll probably be asking for first pairing money, and I don't think that he can still play 20-25 mins a game for a whole season.

He'd be good as a veteran on a team that wouldn't depend on him.

Overreaction FTW.

Give him 10-12m for 2 more years.

His days of 20+ minutes per night are over. If he'll come back and accept reduced $ and reduced role, bring him back.

Nope. Keep Markov without a doubt. The only good thing is these playoffs will bring his demands down a bit. But teams would kill for a PMD of his caliber

Please no.

He is a 2nd paring dman at best now. Maximum I would go is 5 mill for 1 year, or 4 mill for 2 years.

and people say he is gassed and should play less minutes. So who is going to replace his minutes???? I would still sign him and let a guy like nygren play see where that goes. If you have no confidence you need to get another young defenseman but it will cost us a lot.

Far from it. Positional players have long shelf life. And Markov still has plenty. Resign the man.

Markov's poor play was a knock-on effect of Therrien's ridiculous "character building" program with Subban throughout the year.

Because he was focused on "fixing" PK, an veteran player on glass kness had to shoulder too much load, and it eventually caught up to him.

I'd still give him another year to ease the transition through to Beaulieu, Cube however is done.

Blame the coach and gm for putting him in a position where he takes on too many minutes and too much responsibility

Markov is still the general, but he needs reduced ice time.

Markov is still one of the top UFA available this year he can't play over 20min. per game anymore we don't have anyone to replace him... not signing him doesn't improve our team he just need to be given a reduce role...

Markov need to be sign unless he is asking for crazy $...
Cube, Murray, Weaver, I prefer Weaver but I'm ok with one of them as 7th D, But we need to play Tinordi and Beaulieu ahead of guys like that.

Sign him to $3/2year.
Then
Pacioretty + DD + Markov + 2nd to Nashville for
Weber + Wilson/Jusi

For our defense:

OUT: Markov (UFA), Murray (UFA), Bouillon (UFA), Drewiskie (UFA)

IN: Tinordi (Farm), Beaulieu (farm), Pateryn (farm)

Time to build this defense from the inside. I really want to see Tinordi and Beaulieu full time in MTL.

Horrible trade for us. You are trading our best scoring forward.

Who pulled one of the best disappearing acts since David Copperfield made Lady Liberty disappear.

Weber > Pacioretty.
You win with defence not forwards.

This was Markov's first season since back from his knee issues. He played over 100games this year including preseason and Olympics. I'm very pleased with what I saw from him.
Both him and PK played the same amount of minutes season and playoffs included. PK looked tired, so not sure why Markov's struggles should be linked to him sucking. The guy was tired, not to mention he had to carry his partner most of the season. He had a great year.
