IINM Neuvirth was the first to disregard Oates and I doubt Halak was ever told to change. Grubauer played so well early on that I doubt he was told to change either so there really aren't adequate alternate test cases. Just mainly one player told to change for the hell of it.

I imagine Trotz liked his body of work and thought he and Calle could work well together.
I was told the players love him.

Maybe Trotz wants his own hand picked D assistant, so the word is purposefully being spread that CalleYo wants to spend more time with the family, the go to excuse on high profile personnel decisions.

@simmonssteve: And speaking of axed Leaf assistants, I'm hearing Dave Farrish has spoken to Barry Trotz about joining Washington's coaching staff.

Former D coach of the TML not exactly glittering on the ol' resume.

Yet it would be an improvement over Calle Johansson.

I was told he was asked back, but deferred to family. Trotz wanted him.

Exactly and I don't doubt for a moment the story you heard.

That is not a rumor you heard, it is the official story

True, or not.

So Canes got their HC hired, Florida is rumored to be hiring Gallant, and Vancouver never being rumored to be interested in Bylsma, I wonder if the Capitals can get him as an assistant and give him an out clause.

Mirtle retweeted a picture of Dan Bylsma in the Vancouver airport a couple of days ago, so there's that.

Wonder if he takes a HC job across the pond or settles for being an Assistant. One has to expect he'll have an NHL offer next year, the Penguins just royally ****ed him in the ass.

Or he could take a year of essentially paid vacation. Pick up some consulting work with an NCAA and/or USHL team on the side to stay sharp. Maybe provide some TV commentary.

30. OK, one more. Assistant coach Todd Reirden, responsible for defence and given permission to look for other work, may end up in Washington alongside Barry Trotz.

Great. Let's go after a guy on a team that sucks defensively that also just got their coach fired. Woohoo!
