Not that I'm complaining, but I wonder if this is the same set of "family reasons" that caused Prior to "step down".

Classic, to spend time with family!

I personally don't believe it for a minute. They just retained him for so long it got awkward for him to be fired now. They kept him around until Trotz could interview him proper. Ted is all about the marketing and specifically of ex caps. A graceful exit was a priority after the Oates disaster.

Lets say Trotz really wanted him to stay. That I am flat on wrong. Trotz and our team will be lost without him.

I then wonder, what's wrong with Trotz. 16 years, he can't find an assistant of his own he trusts and prefers?

Of course he can.

The first time around (Irbe era), Prior's family reasons were legit, AFAIK. The Caps would have loved to keep him.

Trotz, Korn, Horachek and possibly Reirdon. I am liking the looks of this staff.

Nope, it's for realz; casually telling your children to "get out there and have fun" is harder than people think.

Thought that CalleJo's comments on how diverse the personality's are on the D-core somewhat interesting just from a chemistry standpoint. Not surprised that he moved on. Always thought it strange that Oates picked him instead of a more NHL season veteran assistant coach. Sort of took that as a power move.

After reading the article fully, maybe Trotz really did want him to stay. There is a lot personal information in that article, almost overkill. But I wanted new blood and I am glad he is gone. Our defense was embarrassing under his watch. One of the worst WRT reasonable expectations. Our best players struggled at 2 on 1s. Is that Oates too?

And those mid period interviews didn't help at all.

It may have been all Oates but I don't want to risk it. We barely have made any changes at all in management and replacing assistants is all we have left.

I am not sure as a coach listening to Mike Green and players is pivotal. I think our players need the country club door closed, and be told what to do.

Trotz asked him back. That's about the end of it Randy even if you don't want to believe it. Truth hurts sometimes.

Laich buyout was coming I was told, nothing about Green (except my speculation).

Who knows, maybe Ted balked at stroking that check for the next 6 years, or Laich has made them believe he's healthy.

Give it time. Callejo's 16 year old daughter is twice the man Marcus is and she cracked.

I've been doing my part. I'm making sure that all of the grocery stores in Arlington locate the margarine along the walls and not in the center aisle.

Hey full props and I very much appreciate you sharing what you get, even if I speculate that it is deliberately leaked.

Upon learning that he had been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, Dominik Hasek credited two people. One was Mitch Korn.

Korn: "If a guy's really good at something, you don't coach that out of him."

Unless you're Adam Oates. Because you know defense.

I would be so on board with Horachek reuniting with Trotz. Those two developed many a defenseman together.

IINM he was only responsible for Nashville's D for two seasons, Suter's last and then the lockout year that followed. Prior to that it was Brent Peterson running the D (and then Housley taking over last year).

Very cool on Korn...

"Holtby, we can rebuild him. We can make him (seem) bigger (in net), better (screw you Oates) than before"....
