I think Boyle is pretty washed up but he's a veteran prescence and would definitely helped the powerplay at least.

Well, so much for him coming to Tampa..
Maybe he still will but a much slimmer chance now.

I agree. There is absolutely no foundation with the Islanders, no prospects whatsoever in the pipeline, and they have no actual things to hope on. Literally a terrible team, easy 30th place team. Should trade Tavares for a 1st and Agostino before his value plummets more.

I don't expect him to sign. Now if the deal happened with Tampa? Sure.

Doesn't hurt to try for the Isles, though.

Snow is a moron for trying to make the team better? He knows well enough by now that selling a UFA on the Islanders on July 1st is near impossible. This doesn't always work (Ehrhoff), but he is trying to improve the team any way he can. This is the most low risk move he can make, and can easily flip his rights for another 5th if Boyle is not interested.

Looks like a lot of posters didn't watch SJS much this year. Boyle was terrible! He didn't even look like an NHL-caliber player most nights.

I feel bad for the guy. He clearly is on the doorstep of retirement but still wants to be his old self. It's a natural human emotion, but nature doesn't care.

I like it . I say sign em up 2 x 5 mill. Gives us another name brand for the first year in Brooklyn.
If he goes, nah the isles are hot. He will sign

No, he is trying to finally get some veteran support for all the young kids. Nothing wrong with trading later round picks for established players when you have a history of not being able to sign free agents. The isles prospect pool is extremely deep, they can go without a few later round picks.

If he offers Boyle two or three years at $5 million he might sign.

They don't have a first round pick next year. Tanking would do them wonders!! Get a clue, good move he can trade him before July 1 if he gives Garth a definite no.

$5 mil per? He's really fallen off. I wouldn't offer him that much.

Great move. Overpay for 2 year deal. Isles have a ton of solid D prospects coming through the ranks and shouldn't block them and waste assets via trade or long-term FA signing....

Why don't they have that pick? Was it because Snow made a terrible trade?

Everyone is talking like the Isles could easily sign top talent if they wanted to.

I think Isles fans know they're not getting the Boyle in his prime, but he could still help our terrible blueline.

I HATE Snow more than any other Isles fan but not sure how anyone can blast this move.

Its a 5th round pick for a month of negotiations for a team that does not attract UFAs. Worst case Snow can flip him to Tampa for a 5th like he did with Erhoff and Buffalo or he loses a 5th rounder. Who cares about 5th round picks...

Boyle wanted 3 years and San Jose wouldn't go beyond two correct? I see a three year deal for 14-15 million getting done if Boyle is interested in signing there.

Shame on Snow for trying to win. He's the only GM to ever make a mistake and needs to pay with his job.

he saw a chance to give the isles the best top line in the league and he went for it, the top line part worked but no one was expecting our 2nd and 3rd line wingers to do just about nothing on the score board, or for lubo to go down right after the trade as well
