I can't even fathom 10 being killed. This is ridiculous. Boko Haram needs to just be ended.

"The killings are massive but nobody can give a toll for now because nobody has been able to go to that place because the insurgents are still there. They have taken over the whole area," lawmaker Peter Biye said.

:

First schoolgirls and now unarmed civilians. Maybe this will get the Nigerian goverment's attention. Didn't the President's wife accuse people of making the schoolgirl thing up to make her husband look bad?

And then you look at what the 'news' covers aside from a story like this.

If it was 500 white people that died, we'd have Newspocalypse type coverage. Oh 500 Nigerians? Yawn, what's Kim Kardashian wearing at her wedding??

People don't want to admit it, but I think Nigeria was a more stable place when it was a military dictatorship.

Well you could make a very similar argument about South Africa, but the answer is not to go back to apartheid

Regardless, Nigeria is not the only african country with problems with terrorists

However they got it, reportedly from their own goverment funneling them US Aid, Al Shabab is in possession of US Arms, it's certainly possible that these terrorist organizations are getting a great deal of support from their own government. Pakistan has illustrated that strongly enough.

Probably because this took place in subsaharan Africa and nowhere near America. BBC has covered this extensively. Awww but if this happened to white people!!!! Wahwahwahwahwah my bum hurts

To make this worse for Nigeria, the US dominated them in today's World Cup warm-up match.

Boko Haram is rather a mafia-like criminal organization than a religious one. Think of the Mexican drug cartels for comparison.

You have to be aware that these figures are always exaggerated. In fact, it doesn't only happen in these countries. The Boston authorities keep lying about the true number of wounded ppl in the Boston marathon bombing. Only an idiot can believe that there were 264 wounded.

In the end, it all could be staged terror incidents by the corrupt Nigerian government, or staged false-flag operations to justify foreign intervention.

US/UK offered military help to search for missing girls ,, Originally Nigeria didn't want it

Nigeria recently sent soldiers to shutdown a newspaper critical of corruption in nation. This is problem you face dealing with Nigeria

It is a corrupt state with a miltiary that is underfunded and poorly trained (Nigeria has resources to have a modern well trained force but haven't invested much in military over last 30 years). Add the fact the Northern region is lawless and there isn't much that can be done

- Nigerian military lacks ability to take fight to enemy and win
- Nigerian gov is as corrupt as any in region and dysfunctional

Also the nation is split almost evenly between muslims and christians so any action taken must weigh this reality (You go all in militarily you could escalate sitution thru nation into full scale civil war)

Well Mexican drug cartels are composed of Catholics so maybe we should just call them Catholic Terror organizations? Hasn't a drug cartel in Mexico even gone so far as to take the name Templar Knights? They're probably dying to go on crusade.

Nigeria is corrupt as he'll so a lot of people would steer clear. Should be reported in the news though but it happens o often that it isn't a surprise. If this happened somewhere where terrorism isn't a common thing, like Angola or Kenya, then you'd probably see more about it.
