Hooboy.

Eklund is pushing the rumor that the Penguins might bring Brodeur as a 1A to mentor Fleury and that Crosby is all in favor of this.

Better Pittsburgh than Chicago.

Stan Bowman hopefully learned his lesson with a washed up Khabibulin.

Why doesn't he just stay as a goalie coach? He sucks as a player now.

police worship...wait...what!? need some pills bro ? seems like the only one in worship mode here is you ... its okay to worship an icon. Its also okay not to worship them when they play like **** and they mouth it off like they are better than everybody. We'll both be fine, don't worry.

So he can play backup games again, complain, and ask for a trade because he thinks he's still good?

Fluery will be 30 at the beginning of next season. Mentor?

If he was truly willing to accept a role as a backup goalie, like he probably should, I'd love to have him end his career in Montréal. Medias would go crazy but it should be stated right as he signs that he's there as a backup, not to steal Price's place, cause he clearly wouldn't and medias would be fools to even make a story about that. If he was willing to give valuable advices to a young elite goalie and play some good games, I'd definitely want him to retire "home".

What's more concerning to me at this point is not Brodeur's declining play but his sense of entitlement. Seems very selfish and disruptive. How is that kind of attitude going to help anyone?

If he really wants to play, he should pull a Belfour and go overseas, where he'll get to play as much as he wants and be the star of the league.

Last time he was a FA his top choices were Toronto and New Jersey. He agreed to a deal with the Leafs but allowed the Devils to match, which they did.

Would be interesting, should the Leafs move Reimer, if Brodeur comes in to play 30-35 games and mentor Bernier.

I think Marty should stay in NJ and play back up to Cory. I guess he wants starter money.

Actually wouldn't mind Brodeur in TO. Brodeur and Bernier are both from Quebec so it would be cool for both of them to be teammates.

Confused to where it's him thinking he's more important than the team or takes anything away from Schneider. If anything he's doing the complete opposite by leaving. He'd rather not sign with the Devils knowing they need to more forward with Schneider.

And should he retire? Yea probably but if they guy wants one more shot...let him have it. He might not be near any top goalies but if he feels like he's got a bit more left in the tank then so be it. He can play back-up for a SC/playoff contender and get another chance at a cup. Anyone who thinks he should stay in NJ is selfish in their own. The guy has played in NJ his entire career and has been a huge reason for their success. He owes nothing to that team. No reason he should come back to NJ. He a legend and one of the greatest goalies of all time. Let him have his last shot at playing no matter where it may be. He'll sign a 1 day contract with NJ the following year and retire as a Devil regardless.

Mentor a 30 year old? Wat. Nothing is going to make Fleury good if he's not at his age.

Exactly.

2 problems I see in this whole situation.

1. I don't see Brodeur being a "mentor" to anyone. He's my favorite player of all time but he just doesn't come across as anyone to me that is extra helpful to younger players or would ever actually be that good of coach.

2. exactly what you pointed out. Fleury turns 30 next season. If he needs a mentor at this point, the Penguins are already losers.

No idea why people are hating on him. He lost lots of money from his divorce and if he retires without a backup plan, he will be living on what he has in the bank for the rest of his life. What's wrong with the old guy who still wants to work?

When you go to Walmart and see 60 year old guys working on stocking shelves. Do you think he shouldn't work there just because he's old and not as fast as the other employees?

If Broduer wants to keep working, let him. He enjoys what he does and wants to make money. One day some of you will be in his position, and I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate a bunch of 20 year olds saying you should quit behind your back
