Close to Oshawa so he can watch his son.

When you go to Walmart and see 60 year old guys working on stocking shelves. Do you think he shouldn't work there just because he's old and not as fast as the other employees?

If Broduer wants to keep working, let him. He enjoys what he does and wants to make money. One day some of you will be in his position, and I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate a bunch of 20 year olds saying you should quit behind your back
He's already talked about coming back & working for the Devils after his retirement & Lou employs a good amount of ex-players. Really don't think it's about the money as much as he just wants to play as long as possible because he enjoys the game.

In NHL 14 I'm in 20-21 and border is STILL starting for the Devils.

Sure it's his son but it's just eerie still seeing that name on a sweater.

One of them is still apparently capable of playing NHL-level hockey, two if you count Selanne.

Brodeur's going to sign somewhere, get embarrassed, and retire. It's unfortunate but if Marty wants to play, we'll all get to see him exposed in a system that doesn't cater to him.

Marty Broduer is becoming the Brett Favre of hockey. He cant just walk away from the game and be satisfied, he needs to go down hearing the boo's and being ridiculed till hes forced to leave having tarnished his name and legacy.

Lots of respect for him for what hes done and ive always been a fan but its time to hang them up.

I'm not sure he can be a backup. He'll probably start going to the press saying he thinks he can be a starter and that he should play more.

I hope he just retires. It is sad to see someone be a franchise player and then play on a new team just before retiring.

If a team is willing to pay him to play hockey for another year, more power to him. Plus, with pretty much every athlete that I can think of, the one thing they miss the most when they're done is the camaraderie with their teammates. It's difficult to find that again.

Also sad when a legend finally has to hang 'em up.

Part of me doesn't want to ever see Brodeur in another jersey, though another part of me would like to still see Marty play to see a couple more highlights & extend his wins/shutout records.

That's why Roy will always be in a whole other class.

One retired after the best seasons of his career stats-wise, to make sure he leaves an all-star... The other is just a fat phony who still wants to ride on his reputation.

Always hated Brodeur. Still hate him. He did a lot of good things for NJ, but he took way too much room in that organization for too long, and I think it cost them as much as it helped.

biggest bs ever is that players should retire when they are on top. they should retire when they aren't physically able to play the game or their level of the game drops dramatically. injuries are whole different story as well.

alot of players making those comebacks or atleast considering it so i think its better to make 100% sure your career is over before you retire instead of making these comebacks and such.

i mean, its like taking away the ability to walk or see, u dont wanna accept the fact that u cant play anymore. its different story when u are like 50-50 and ur passion towards the starting to decrease, then its time to hang them up.

brodeur has played literally 35 years and its only thing he has ever believed literally, he sacrifised and dedicated his whole life to the sport he loves and loved since kid.

maybe roy just felt this is enough and thats it. jagr selanne and brodeur are 3 unique players when it comes to loving the game. they would play forever if they could.

At the very most he took two years more than he should have. At the very, very most.

In exchange, we got two decades of top-tier goaltending, five trips to the Stanley Cup finals, and three championships.

I'm not keen on Brodeur or his fanboys, but I have a lot of respect for a dude like him or any other older star who wants to keep playing (Selanne, Jagr, Recchi, Chelios, Hasek, etc). They're still in it for one reason, love of the game.
