Yeah I heard about this. Only time in history where tanking is totally justified.
There will be never be a player like Lemieux.

Torpedo played a pre-season game against the hometown FEL team. I don't care for them but it was free and it was hockey so I went. I'm not familiar with KHL teams so I didn't know he'd be there but there he was in the opening six.

He had a good zone entry that resulted in a teammate's scoring chance and a powerplay in the first. Then he had a nice dipsy dangle through a defenseman followed by a shot in the second. He also drew a penalty on that play. He then proceeded to score a goal on a shot from the top of the left circle where he had a ton of space to get the one-t off. In the defensive zone he was nowhere to be found although he sometimes went into his own zone to gather speed. He coasted around the offensive blue line quite a bit.

Other things I noticed were that some dude wore number 69 which caused me to dislike him a lot. Also, I didn't know who it was until now but Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev who also played well last WC for Ukraine was energetic considering it was a pre-season match where everyone was phlegmatic.

I actually found the entire game from Torepdo's webpage. Wolski's goal is at 1:15:50.

Thanks for posting IC. I hadn't seen it yet.

I bet it's happened a lot more than just once. A lot of funny business is going to go on this year.

i do. he wrote what the numbers told him. and the last years 5-6 or so, it wasn't pretty..

not much insults, though. more of detailed stuff on what they do well (not much) and what they don't do well (quite a lot of things).

one guy tweeted (jokingly) that the oilers took his site down just so no one could read anymore the huge amount of evidence detailing how bad they are .

I hope the Wichita Thunder would still be around in that merged league...would be nice to get an uppage of hockey quality.

The CHL is nice and all, and there's been some players that have gone on to at least the AHL, but even I know that there is a difference in quality between the CHL and ECHL

If that happened then would the Avs have to choose between the Komets and Cutthroats?

Don't think I've seen it mentioned here but the Colorado Eagles are now affiliated with the Flames.

Dallas might feel a bit of cap crunch. They have $5.3M in cap space with 20 players signed and Eakin/Dillon still to sign.

Completely unrelated, but I clicked on an NBC article about Yak switching numbers, and I just have to share this comment:

Quote:
God acts in mysterious ways at times … but ‘act’ he always does !

The bottom line friends is that Yakupov became a ‘target’ of the man upstairs ever since that ‘disrespectful’ celebratory dance of his two years ago in Edmonton … no two ways about it. Because that performance of his was both ‘cowardly and repugnant’ and as Don Cherry said at the time … “you simply don’t go and try to humiliate the reigning Conn Smythe Trophy holder like that”. So despite the change of number, I suspect that Yakupov will now continue to suffer in the doldrums, at least until such time that he comes clean and finally apologizes to both Jonathan Quick and our entire Kings Nation.

GO KINGS GO !!! … TODAY, TOMORROW AND FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Minnesota acts like they were the only one promised an outdoor game. Or were we the only ones smart enough to see the writing on the wall?

After seeing the thread title "RIP mc79hockey" and now knowing the two are related, I share this sentiment. I mean, I haven't twittered in months, but the guy was insufferable.

God I hope so. Id love to see the Isles fans just lose their minds if they are dead last by the quarter mark. And this could be an interesting deadline year if those teams at the bottom think they have a chance at McD and Eich and just sell off solid vets for nothing.

WJC should be extra good this year if these "friendly" matches are an indication.
