It may be the best thing for the Oilers as McDavid is an actual generational talent in the making.

He's easily going to be better than any of the players that we've selected 1st overall .

Uh, what?
Ok. I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I greatly enjoyed the finals but to each their own. L.A. obviously outclassed the Rangers but it was still tremendous excitement IMO.

Well we're certainly not making the playoffs and no trades/signings are going to make us drastically better. Anything less than McDavid will be a disappointment.

Send Nurse, Klefbom, and Marincin back to the AHL and sign a bunch of 5/6/7 guys to take their place.

Meh, the best series had already passed us. Anyway, congrats to the Kings I guess. Can't wait until they sweep us next year too.

The Staples Center wasn't very loud and now almost everyone has left the building.

For shame.

You can tell the fans are bandwagoners because they don't know you're supposed to boo Gary Bettman.

Bank on it that LA or Chicago wins the 2015 Stanley Cup.

Kings and Hawks are in a separate league.

and by the way, he may be an okay guy (I've heard otherwise...) but I can't say enough ****** things about Rick Nash. 8 mill. Worst playoffs for a "superstar" player. Borderline career killing. Truly pathetic.

Probably but this series still had 3 overtimes in 5 games. Could have gone either way really.

And yes, we know the Oilers suck. What can ya do? No use letting it consume you and letting it sap any enjoyment of the game for you. If it bothers you that much, maybe you should step away for a while.

Him and Brad Richards. Hoo boy. All of New York's "stars" completely disappeared when it mattered most. How many PPs did they get in the combined OTs? Whiffed on all of them.

Not really. The Kings defeated three of the best teams in the league and overcame numerous deficits. The Rangers had never encountered a team even remotely close to the Kings. The Rangers had no killer instinct when it mattered most and their stars completely dried up.

No doubt but they were 0-3 in thosd OT's and had plenty of chances in all 3 games so even if they go 1-2, it's a 3-2 series going back to NY or if they go 2-1, they are up in the series. If Kreider scores on 2 breakaways, the Rangers are up in the series. The Kings clearly had the territorial advantage but the Rangers were THAT close to making it a much closer series.

It would've been a better final if it was Kings vs Bruins.

Bruins are the only team that can compete against the West.

It would've been a better final if it was Hawks vs. Rangers, but your point is correct. The Eastern Conference is a terrible joke.

The Kings coaching staff is made up of former NHL coaches.

Ours is made up of former Oilers.

All 3 of the Oilers coaches have never played for the Oilers.

Wow, what's with the wrist slashing going on in here.

Ya the Oilers are a ****** team and the Kings are great. Things can come together fast though like we saw with Colorado last year though.

The team is still very young with a lot of growth potential. Just take it one step at a time. Set the playoffs as the goal and then go from there.

You can see it though that Oilers don't have a lick of possibility of making the playoffs.

This team structure is all ****ed up.

Major change needs to happen.

Colorado had a goalie that often bailed them out (something we did NOT have early on) and built on that.

Some people just love to wallow in their own misery.
I'm not happy about the state of the Oilers but i refuse to let it bother me that much in the offseason. There's plenty of other postive things in sports and life in general to focus on.
