Really...Vinny can still be a low end 2nd line C. We want a 3rd line LW for him....or just a pick.

it's something strange isn't it.....he's signed for 4 more damn years...is 34 years old now....snubbed us time and again....and now...even after all that...even after not performing...and against almost every sense in my body telling me do not go down that road...there's still that something there that wants to see it. and i'm not even from quebec or french speaking

After watching Michal "decrepit pylon" Handzus this season, no freakin' way should the Chicago Blackhawks even contemplate the notion of acquiring Vinny Lecavalier.

There's a big difference between being able to pay him what you want and get him for free and trading assets to obtain and pay what someone else deemed he was worth.

And yes, a year can make a massive difference in a players worth.

what are the specifics of the NMC? Capgeek says it's just a straight NMC, in which case a deal is pretty much impossible.

No interest from Montreal (at least this fan). At all. **** you Vinny.

The Preds would make some sense though I'd think.

He will make $6mil in actual dollars for next season. Teams with an internal cap wouldn't trade for him.

Presuming Stastny walks.

Avs:
Lecavalier (500k retained)
Coburn
Flyers 2nd Round Pick 2014 (48th overall)

Flyers:
PA Parenteau
Wilson
Avs 1st Round Pick 2014 (23rd overall)

There is a bit of a cap gamble with Vinny, but fiscally next year is 6 million, the following is 4, and the next two years are 3. Make the Flyers keep 500k per year and in the last 3 years of the deal the Avs are only paying out 4.5, 2.5, and 2.5 million. The cap hit will be 4 million based on the 500k retained as well. Clearly, the hope would be he fits in as a 2nd line player after a hard working summer and under Roy. But at worst you slot him in as an improvement on the 3rd line, moving Mitchell to the wing or 4th line center. Moving Wilson clears 2.25 million in both salary and cap space on year one as well, so the bite is not as big. The reward for taking the risk on Vinny is Coburn, who slots in well with either EJ or Barrie.

Flyers take a relatively large salary and cap dump moving Vinny and Coburn. PAP gives them an affordable scoring winger. Wilson is a decent AHL/NHL call up, but is really moved to save the Avs some money and to help absorb Vinny's contract. The teams swap 1st and 2nd round picks to balance out the value. Flyers gain some flexibility over the summer if they want to add depth or go after another big target.

I'd love him back in Tampa, something around Purcell?

I knew this would happen.

I have a hard time seeing the Flyers move him, due to his contract. He isn't worth the 4.5 million now and won't be for the rest of his deal.

Only chance I would see is Florida. They do have cap space and could buy cheap on a veteran center who could mentor their young guys. He has lived there before so maybe he would be prepared to waive to move back. PHI would probably have to retain some salary though and don't expect a big deal back. Not saying this is happening though.

He had a better PPG than every NYI player except 5. And since you lost Vanek, it's now 4.

I'm not sure why people won't listen to Flyers fans who watched him all year. He was AWFUL when used as a winger...which was most if the year. Not surprising. Asking a 15 year vet to change positions mid season was not a smart idea. When played at C he can produce as a 2nd line C still. Philly just has 2 other guys that can do it as well.

He could get moved to a team trying to reach the floor. In this situation, a 2nd and 3rd should get er done. No one NEEDS Vincent Lecavlier.

He was brought in to be a #2 C under Lavi's system. With Schenn and Couts both developing offensively, he ended up playing wing most of the season in which he himself said he could not play as. Finally, they moved him to the 4th line. It made the 4th line much better but he certainly isn't playing as much or with who he thought he would when he signed. If the opportunity for him to be a 2 nd line C is available, he likely goes after it.

And remember...he played as a LW. As bad as we feel he was, he STILL in the top 40 scoring LW. That puts him as a higher than average 2nd liner. We just expect more.
