Chicago Blackhawks - All Time Team?

Just for fun:

Bobby Hull - Stan Mikita - Steve Larmer
Marian Hossa - Jonathan Toews - Patrick Kane
Steve Sullivan - Denis Savard - Patrick Sharp
Dennis Hull - Jeremy Roenick - Tony Amonte

Doug Wilson - Chris Chelios
Duncan Keith - Keith Brown
Robert Murray - Pierre Pilote

Glenn Hall
Tony Esposito

(All in their prime)

How would this team do in todays NHL?

"How can you have him with ..." and "Why do you not pick ..." I look forward to a scary aha experience of having missed the big names that should have been included.

Feel free to make your own all-time team....

I was gonna say that Suter or Magnuson had to slide in there.

I know there's only so much room, but Larmer and Probert would be nice additions, as would Jerry Korab.

Honestly, they would get worked in today's game with either of those guys in net. Can you imagine maskless Hall standing up facing a Subban slapper?

Give them some time to get used to the mask yes, ... but with the huge padding and far lighter equipment, they'd feel like they were in goalie heaven.

Not really talking about the mask itself, but either would essentially need to learn what has become a totally different position than what they did.

I like this team. I'd stick a prime Michel Goulet in over Pit Martin, or if we're really fantasizing about prime of career, Phil Esposito on a wing or at center, and one or both of the Bentleys as extras. Belfour as an extra goalie.

There are a couple of other older players who would be good too. However, I don't think Orr or Ted Lindsay really were Hawks at the right time of their careers to be included here.

Hull-Mikita-Hossa
Larmer-Toews-Kane
Goulet-Esposito-Savard
Sharp-Roenick-Amonte

Wilson-Chelios
Keith-Seabrook
Suter-Pilote

Hall
Esposito

Extras: Secord, Bentleys, Belfour

Sadly, he was not good enough to make this squad.

Glad a couple of you got a chuckle out of this

On a serious note, every time you see someone on the internet B****ing up a storm on how bad the Hawks played that night, point them out to ol' Gobbledy's post here and tell them that that's what Blackhawks fans had to watch for many years.

My apologies, btw, for including Steve Sullivan in this group.

I remember going to games back in those days with my dad and you could hear a pin drop at the UC. Crazy to think about a time when the Hawks were considered "the worst" in sports.

Yep, my brother and I would do back to back Hawks/Bulls games a lot in the mid 2000s, never once was worried about either team being sold out.

How would this team do in todays NHL?
The team averages about 185 lbs. and the defense averages under 190. Also no real top tough guy enforcers. Talent-wise they should win every game but physically i would be frightened to watch what would happen to them in today's NHL. I would substitute Probert and Secord for Sullivan and D. Hull and Seabrook and Russell for Brown and Murray. Huge improvement in size/toughness and maybe only slight sacrifice in talent.

I'm way too young to have seen Hull play for the Hawks, but the thought of a 100mph slapper on the other side of Kane makes me drool like a St Bernard.
