More value - TJ Oshie or Brad Marchand?

OK, mainly just bored and taking a poll for fun. Blues fans are more likely to take Oshie and Bruins fans Marchand.

Not advocating a trade or anything, just curious. I'll put an option for both fanbases as well.

Marchand easily

Younger and doesn't vanish in the playoffs

Oshie is supremely overrated

Blues fan saying Marchand. No it's NOT AINEC, but it's by a comfortable margin.

5 assists in 12 games this post season. I think he did this year. Even with that, it's still him. Oshie has 3 g 4 a in 24 post season games.

Both players have the similar strengths, but Marchand's better offensive ability makes him the better player.

Both bring different intangibles (hits vs pestiness).

Both are excellent PK players.

Marchand is a 20-25 goal scorer while playing only 10% of the available time on the power play and playing under 16 minutes per 60.

Oshie is a 15-20 goal scorer while playing 50% of the available time on the power play and playing over 18 minutes per 60.

Marchand's ability to score more in fewer even strength and power play minutes makes it hard for me to see an argument that leaves Oshie on top, unless its the Olympics and he can keep shooting in the shootout.

Yeah Marchand wasn't great in the playoffs this year but Oshie has never been good in the playoffs

Oshie has a better overall game. I think the whole "disappearing" in the playoffs is way overrated and due to a multitude of factors such as overall team play and match ups with small sample sizes.

At some point it becomes about results

7 points in 24 games is not good enough

Of course it isn't good enough. I've been saying this for months now. However, Oshie is still a more effective player than Marchand.

I like Oshie's attitue a lot more and would GUESS that he is a better locker-room guy just baed on interviews and his swagger... watching him in warm-ups and interacting with the guys in non-game scenario's etc...

Its close though. But I like Osh on my team and not sure I would like Marchand more.

Oshie.

Marchand can't control his emotions and cost the bruins games with dumb antics, Montreal was in his and Lucic's head all series.

If Marchand could reel in his temper I would pick him though, has all the tools but lacks mental toughness it seems. I wonder how out of control he would be is he didn't have such a strong leadership group in Boston to showing how your supposed to react (Iggy,Bergeron, Chara)

I'd take Oshie on either of my teams before Marchand. That's even ignoring the fact that I dislike Marchand. This is no place for AINEC though. If I were offered either, I'd take Oshie without a second thought, but if I were given Marchand, I wouldn't complain in the slightest bit. It's close, imo, but just a clear decision for me.

I dont know how anyone can say "Marchand easily".

He hasnt been anything special in the playoffs for 2 years in a row. Not that Oshie has been any better, we all know he's been disappointment in the post-season.

But Oshie just had the best season of his career. He is better all-round player in my opinion also. Not to mention he's money in the shootouts, one of the best in the whole world at the moment.

There's enough value in Oshie, right now, to make me think that most of the GM's would take him over Marchand.

Better hitting, but all of those other things could go either way.

Marchand is clearly the better goal scorer EVERY year and does so playing significantly fewer power play minutes.

As far as two way play, while playing on a similar quality team against a similar quality of competition, Oshie's has NEVER had a better Corsi or Corsi Relative than Marchand. In Marchand's worst season he takes a dump on Oshie's best possession season.

By the numbers, the only things Oshie has a clear edge on are hits and shoot outs....and shoot outs don't win you Cups.

I know everyone hates Marchand, and Oshie is likeable, but these poll results are embarrassing.

As a guy who really, really dislikes Marchand, he is still the player everyone should be picking.

Before this season Marchand has always been a more productive player. Even with this being Oshie's best season, and being considered a "down" year for Marchand, Oshie still barely out scored him.

Marchand is a better offensive player, while playing significantly less minutes, especially on the power play. Is one of the best penalty killers out there as well. While he does often cross the line (which is why I dont like him), his value is criminally underrated on these boards, and every single GM would see the actual value in him.

Unless you're looking for a few more hits and shootout wins, there really is 0 reason to chose Oshie if given the choice between these two players.

Or maybe there is a reason that this many people place higher value in Oshie than in Marchand. Ever thought of that?
