Where did you hear that? Usually it's the day before the draft.

Sportsnet really is connected now

@JSportsnet: Hockey Far from over:
June 16: Buy outs start
June 22: Schedule
June 24: Awards
June 25: FA Talks can begin
June 27/28: Draft
July 1: FA Day

The last 2 years the schedule actually wasn't realeased until mid July, around the baseball allstar game.

Thanks, that's pretty cool! Earlier than normal.

Last year was mid July, but only because they hadn't decided on Olympic participation. The year before, pretty sure it came out just before the draft, but the schedule ended up not being used due to lockout.

I stumbled across an announcement on Yahoo sports but can't find it now. I'd heard same, Sunday 22nd of June. Seems early, but I'm pretty pleased to have it that soon. It's been tough since the season has ended and we've beaten the draft (and Pavelec) to death. So something to look forward to and start planning for.

Already had the Vikes-Falcons game pegged as the game I was going to this year. I have to think that the NHL schedule makers are now considering that to boost pre-season attendance at Wild games. Conceivably an extra 1000 tickets sold to Jets fans.

What a wreck of a weekend though - drive down Saturday, drop off the car at the hotel, cab over to the game and start drinking. Sunday morning tailgating and then a football game. I'm already hung over.

I thought it was the teams who scheduled their own preseason games. Smart for the Wild. I went to a game last year and afterwards a customer service person called to thank me and offer any assistance in the future to make my experience better.

Ok, I didn't know that. It makes lots of sense then. Potential budding rivalry in some senses (admitting Wild are much better than we are at this time) but minimal travel for both teams and a big win at the box office. I think Minneapolis as a whole is keenly aware of how many Winnipeggers visit that city and they like the dollars we bring.

Gonna be fun seeing you guys right away in the pre-season. Hopefully they put the preseason games on TV down here or I'll probably be looking for a stream from you guys

Here's to growing the Wild-Jets rivalry.

Usually get passes in mail a week or two before first preseason game in September.

The Los Angeles Kings will begin the defense of their title against the team that nearly ended their magical run before it even started.

Los Angeles will welcome the San Jose Sharks to Staples Center as part of a four-game night October 8 to kick off the 2014-15 NHL season, the League announced Saturday. The Sharks won the first three games of their first-round series against the Kings in April, only to lose four straight to Los Angeles. The Kings became the fourth team in NHL history to rally from a 3-0 deficit, then went on to win two more epic seven-game series before defeating the New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup Final.

The other games on opening night will be the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden to face the Boston Bruins, the Toronto Maple Leafs welcoming the Montreal Canadiens to Air Canada Centre and the Vancouver Canucks visiting the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome.

One of the highlights the following night will be the re-branded Arizona Coyotes playing their first game since the name change, which goes into effect at the 2014 NHL Draft, against the Winnipeg Jets at Jobing.com Arena. That evening will also see 11 other teams host their home opener.

The Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche, who waged a seven-game series in the first round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, will start the season with a home-and-home. Minnesota defeated Colorado in Game 7 on Nino Niederreiter's overtime goal and will celebrate its first playoff series victory since 2003 at Xcel Energy Center on October 9. Colorado will then welcome the Wild to Pepsi Center two days later.
