Wow so Kesler isn't going anywhere then. It seems like VAN wants win now players, which the teams interested in Kesler aren't willing to give up. They aren't going to be making lateral moves to fill roster spots. Ducks, Blues and Pens want to add him to the team currently constituted. Why is VAN so out of touch?

The only way I trade Kadri for Berglund is if Lupul is added as well as steen to make it

Kadri+Lupul for Berglund+Steen with adds on either side to even it out.

Well, if St. Louis is looking at trading for Kesler and Oshie is involved then they may be looking for another winger.

Oshie + to Vancouver Kesler
Berglund to Toronto for Lupul

They get their two-way centre, losing a winger in the process and trade Berglund for a higher scoring winger to replace Oshie. Berglund is redundent on that team anyway.

Oshie is overrated. If that's all it takes for the Blues to get Kesler, that's a major steal.

Berglund for Kadri straight up is bad for Toronto.

That said, I'm not adding significantly to that from St. Louis.

I'd say Kesler is a bit better then Oshie, but the age gap would make me do the deal.

Pass from Vancouver. Oshie is overated. Kesler is severely being under rated on these boards.

Oshie is a Blue. I don't want him going anywhere. Getting Kadri has my interest but Sobotka stays right where he his. With the emergence of Schwartz and Tarasenko, I'm really not all that worried moving forward. I do assume the front office will be doing something though with the way we have left the playoffs.

Oshie scored 60 points last year and is two years younger.
I'd prefer to get a younger player/picks/prospects but it's an intriguing deal.

Exactly, not interested in anything from St.Louis.

Except Tarasenko and Shattenkirk.

i wonder if berglund + edm 2nd for kadri could work. it would allow the leafs to use berglund and holland as the 2/3 line center

I'd be fine with that. I like Cole, but our coaches aren't giving him the opportunity to establish himself.

I like Kesler quite a bit, but in terms of "2 years", they could be the best 2 years of Oshie's entire career.

Berglund for Kadri seems very unfair for the Leafs. There must be something coming along with Berglund (Maybe Ian Cole?) for Kadri.

St. Louis isn't reported to be on Kesler's list and I don't think Kypreos has ever broke anything Canucks related so I wouldn't pay much heed to that part of the rumour. Kesler for Oshie also makes no sense for the Canucks unless we really really wan't to improve our shootouts.

The quote implies that Vancouver has priced Kesler at Oshie and the Toronto has priced Kadri at Berglund.

IMO, Toronto would be getting a strictly defensive center who will not eat significant minutes and will not work on Kessel's line in a pinch - that is to say, they must be giving up on Kadri to some degree.

IMO Oshie for Kesler is a bit of status quo for Vancouver with the only point of difference being Oshie uses his teammates much better. You could easily say that Kesler is a C who plays like a W and Oshie is a W who plays like a C.

The thing that strikes me about this deal is that it opens up the possibility that STL could aquire both Kadri and Kesler as well as Spezza. The future assets that Ottawa wants would remain in possession of STL in these deals. STL could offer a depth forward, or even Kadri, and they have Jaskin and a couple of good picks (21 + 33). Some of those assets would certainly fetch Spezza.

Oshie isn't a top line player, but he'd be a great secondary scorer on that 2nd liner, for whoever the Canucks decide to bring in as the 2nd line center. There isn't much skill on that canucks team. Burrows, Higgins, Hansen type of guys in the top six. Will explain why Kesler never passes anymore.

That's if, they can bring in a proper 2nd liner center. Obviously, they want to stay competitive being in a canadian market.

That may even get us in the overpayment range but I could see it happening. I like Cole but he has been the 6-8th D man here for what seems like an eternity so if we aren't going to use him, we might as well get something for him.

I have been wanting the Leafs to go after Cole for awhile. As a Leafs and Blues fan there are a lot of guys where I say what if haha.

Plus Oshie has a long term deal with a good cap number. Personally, my only reservation is the Blues may perceive Oshie to be at to top of his potential right now. But I love the detail in his game. Part if his production came from playing so long with Backes and the timing plays are easier for that. But the skill and vision this year were apparent. I have to think he would be a great line mate for a guy like Horvat and Kassian.
