I didn't do a count but it looks like the majority has Ekblad at #1 and Michael Dal Colle in the fifth spot

@ the OP
how about 1 point for each player that gets picked in the 1st round and 2 points for the exact draft position? cus it'll be hard to predict the exact position of everyone when theres trades involved

I'd give him bonus points if that one turns out correct.

- 1st Overall: Aaron Ekblad - Although I think Tallon might be scared off of him because of his history with Barker and the lack of development with Kulikov/Gudbranson, he's a great piece to add. Cornerstone dman to build around with the forward core already seeing pieces in Huberdeau, Bjugstad and Barkov.

- 2nd Overall: Sam Reinhart - The BPA in the draft IMO, Reinhart gives the Sabres a number 1 center to build around and depth up the middle with Grigorenko/Girgensons/Hodgson.

- 3rd Overall: Sam Bennett - Oilers go for the gritty high energy player. Bennett brings an element of fight that really lacks in the Oilers top 6. They already have the cerebral center, now they get the guy teams will hate to play against. They forgo the center with only a little more size.

- 4th Overall: Michael Dal Colle - The Flames go after MDC, passing on the Deutschland Dangler. MDC offers top line upside as a wingmate for Monahan. MDC offers a good two-way game, intensity, great vision, and great scoring touch. Too hard to pass up even with their depth at LW.

- 5th Overall: Nikolaj Ehlers - While they were hoping MDC fell to them, Ehlers is the backup plan. He can shoot and score, and give the Isles a winger to player with either Strome or Tavares long term. He'll ride shotgun and feast on opposition playing them.

- 6th Overall: Jake Virtanen - Player teams will hate to play against. Very Western style game and a style reminiscent of Jim Benning's former employer, the Bruins. Would fit in quite nicely on a line with Bo Horvat.

- 7th overall: Nick Ritchie - Already owning a nice depth of centers, the Canes opt to go with some bang to add to their top 6. Ritchie adds size, and grit, while not sacrificing scoring.

- 8th Overall: Leon Draisaitl - Draisaitl falls only to 8th, and the Leafs snag a center in the first round for the 2nd year in a row. Skating is on the slow side, but it's smooth and while he's not the most physical player he's among the smartest in the draft. Leafs consider Fleury here.

- 9th Overall: William Nylander - Already having a system with good size, the Jets draft Nylander to add elite offensive upside to the forward core.

(from Sens) - 10th Overall: Kevin Fiala - With a deep system, the Ducks are willing to take some risks. Fiala is one of the drafts most intriguing players and the Ducks love his fight and creativity. Not being afraid to reach on a player, they draft Fiala.

- 11th Overall: Brendan Perlini - Preds add a player who can score, skate and pass to the system. He has legitimate top 6 scoring upside and is a nice piece to add to Forsberg/Jarnkrok.

- 12th Overall: Kasperi Kapanen - For the 4th straight year, the Coyotes take a player in the first with NHL bloodlines. Kapanen adds more offensive punch to their system.

- 13th Overall: Haydn Fleury - Fleury gives the Capitals a nice top 4 potential dman in the system.

- 14th Overall: Julius Honka - Stars go for a talented, albeit undersized, PMD.

- 15th Overall: Alex Tuch - Lacking size in the forward ranks, and having been tied to big bodied players for years, the Red Wings get a big power forward in Tuch. He'll get lots of time and patience to develop.

- 16th Overall: David Pastrnak - Talented scorer fits well into a Kekalainen system

- 17th Overall: Jared McCann - Philly prospect through and through, the Flyers once again turn to a two-way center.

- 18th Overall: Dylan Larkin - Minnesota sticks to the organizational identity of hard working two-way players. His upside is intriguing.

- 19th Overall: Roland McKeown - Tampa adds a skilled, smooth skating dman, hoping he can take the next step offensively.

- 20th Overall: Nikita Scherbak - Lacking LW's and skilled forwards in the system, the Sharks opt for talented WHL rookie Scherbak.

- 21st Overall: Ivan Barbashev - Blues go for a very Blues type Russian. Hard working, two-way center, but has offensive upside that he doesn't get credit for.

- 22nd Overall: Adrian Kempe - A perfect long term third line center option, the Pens play it safe and go for the big Swede.

- 23rd Overall: Sonny Milano - With McKeown and Honka already off the table, the Avs take the most talented winger left on the board.

- 24th Overall: Brycen Martin - Going back to the WHL for their trademark smooth skating dman, the Ducks go off the board while many suspected they'd grab Sanheim.

Bruins - 25th Overall: Jakub Vrana - Lacking overall scoring punch throughout the system, Bruins see if they can strike gold again going with a Czech player.

Habs - 26th Overall: Jack Glover - Montreal once again dips into the USHL system for a big dman.

Hawks - 27th Overall: Thatcher Demko - Goaltending has always been a struggle for the Hawks, they hope to get a franchise one in Demko.

Bolts (From Rangers) - 28th Overall: Connor Bleackley - Perfect future third line center for the Lightning.

Kings - 29th Overall: Ryan MacInnis - Sutter player through and through. Helps strengthen Kings weak center position in the system.

Devils - 30th Overall: Nick Schmaltz - Wickedly talented center gives the Devils a future top 6 player to add to the system. One of the most talented players in the draft

Bit of a gamble but Burkie did jump up a bit in 2012 to grab Reilly and Flames could use a solid D prospect like Fleury more so than another C - I also have a feeling Bennett might get a bit of the Filip Forsberg treatment - not out of the top 10 but out of the top 5 just based on need, I had Ritchie in there 1st for Cgy

If the Canucks passed on Draisaitl, I swear....

1-FLA : Aaron Ekblad; potential move out of one looks like a possibility to me. Best defender in the draft by far.
2-BUF: Sam Bennett; Compared to Doug Gilmour. Guys like that win championships.
3-EDM: Sam Reinhart; Does not fit with Edmonton's needs but too good to go elsewhere. Reinhart becomes an Oiler and one of the other uber-talents in the lineup gets dealt for that defender.
4-CGY : Leon Draisaitl; 1-2 punch of Monahan and Draisitl will help get Calgary back to the playoffs
5-NYI : Michael Dal Colle; Isles have done off the board things in the past but Dal Colle is a perfect fit for them. Goal Scorer to pair with Taveras
6-VAN : Nikolai Ehlers; Vancouver needs an infusion of talent and he brings it. Speedy and elusive.
7-CAR : Nick Ritchie; Sorry Toronto but the big power forward goes the pick before you. Nice size/skill combo
8-TOR : Jake Virtanen; Great skater, great size. Brings every dimension to the Leafs
9-WPG :William Nylander; Mini-slide ends at Winnipeg. Tremendous offensive skills but not sure about the compete
10-ANA : Haydn Fleury; 2nd best defender goes to the team with two picks in the first. Could be a top pairing guy for ten years and no one even notices
11-NSH : Kevin Fiala; A little off the board but Nashville needs offense and he brings it. Great skater plus highly competitive.
12-PHX : Dylan Larkin; Who doesn't need a big talented two-way center. He seems to be polar as some see him as a third liner. I see a good two-way second liner. The kind of guy that you can put over the boards no matter what the match up is.
13-WSH : Ivan Barbashev; Washington is thinking like Phoenix and grab a strong two-way center. Organization successful with Russian players even though he plays like a North American.
14-DAL : Sonny Milano; Another high-end forward. Seems like he is moving up on a lot of lists.
15-DET : Robby Fabbri; As a Blues fan, I hate to see the player I want go to the Wings but he fits here. Small but talented and competitive. I see him taking a few years to make the Wings but than he will be as good as advertised.
16-CLB : David Pastrnak; Not big but does not play small. Another of the talented wingers in this draft. Brings explosive offense to a team that is definitely rising.
17-PHI : Alex Tuch; Flyers draft the big power forward. Not the most physical guy but huge. Reminds me of John Leclair.
18-MIN : Brendan Perlini; Good hockey sense and probably best winger on the board. Will bring some scoring to Minnesota in the not too distant future.
19-TB : Jared McCann; Need defense but I think that it would be a reach here. Solid playmaker. May not be the best fit for Tampa but too good to pass on at this point.
20-SJ : Nikita Scherbak; Size and skill. The guy that I want my Blues to get goes the pick before them. Figures.
21-STL : Nikolai Goldobin; Would love to see Fabbri or Scherbak make it here but I am doubting it. Goldobin could be a home run but defensive deficiencies make me nervous. Very boom or bust for team trying to close gap on the Kings and Hawks. Bleackley would be a safer pick but Blues go for talent with this pick.
22-PIT : Kasperi Kapanen; Talent joins a team loaded at center. Could be a nice fit at wing for a team always looking for linemates for Crosby or Malkin
23-COL : Conner Bleackley; Competitive player that played under a Sutter. Looks like a Kings-type player to me but Colorado is getting close to joining the upper echelon and you cannot have too many guys that will do whatever it takes.
24-ANA : Jakub Vrana; Either he is scoring or he is no help. The team with two picks take a boom-or-bust hoping for that secondary scoring
25-BOS : Adrian Kempe; Size/skill just fit in Boston
26-MTL : Brendan Lemieux; Sandpaper type for that Boston/Montreal rivalry. He fits perfect to me
27-CHI : Jack Dougherty; Steady defender. Hawks just keep adding to their stable through the entire organization
28-TB : Julius Honka; Get the defender that people have them picking at 19 anyways.
29-LA : Travis Sanheim; Late riser. Kings can give him time to grow. Could become a real gem.
30-NJ : Nick Schmaltz; High-end talent for a team that really needs it. Could boom or bust

I'll give you bonus points if Ehlers doesn't go in the 1st round
