This. I fully believe that this team, with their offense being even average, makes Kopitar have his first over PPG season.

I still stand at around my original prediction of 3 years @ ~$6.5 million per season. Maybe he goes down to $6 million, but I don't see him making less. Hopefully Solomon and Lombardi can work their magic though.

Anyone else thinking that him going back to Europe supports our speculation that he already signed? I do.

I tend to think the same but it's not like his agent went with him

I posted elsewhere I expect 3-4 years at about 6.

6.5+ would be market value to compete with someone offering him 7.5-8+
6 would be fair and kind of cheap imo
5.5 would be a hometown bargain
5 or less would be absolute freaking larceny

I'll also stick with my original guess - 3 years/18 million.

Yeah, 18M/3y seems like a fair price for both sides. Who knows though, this is realistically Gaborik's last chance at a mega deal so I won't be hugely surprised if he decides to move on, but he sure seemed to have an awful good time here so here's to hoping.

I wouldn't count on that happening even if he resigns.

I still don't get why everyone thinks that Lombardi is cheap or won't pay people their value.

Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, Stoll, Greene, Regehr, Lewis and Clifford were all with the Kings and re-signed contracts that paid them atleast their value if not more. Include Penner in that group as well.

Scuderi, Mitchell and Gagne signed as UFA's mostly because the Kings offered the most money. The Kings also made significant free agent offers to Kovalchuk and Brad Richards, reportedly second only to the teams that signed them.

Quick and Jack Johnson were two guys who signed for less than market value, and in Quick's case he got a likely retirement contract out of it.

I will screen and confirm the video of this if necessary.

I'm on the team that believes it's a done deal. Gabby's been loving all the sweet passes from Kopi.

Love the fact that we are now (finally) a team players want to play for.

It's nice to see someone with common sense around here, taking the homer, playing on a Stanley Cup winner euphoria glasses off. While I agree he does want to play on a winner, the notion of him taking 5.0 or 5.5 I believe is ludicrous. Hope I am wrong. I doubt it.

I wouldn't read much into that. If the rumors had been that he was not interested in signing with us, then going back to Europe would be taken as evidence that he definitely wasn't signing. It's ambiguous.

How times have changed with DL, a couple of years ago the notion of spending 6mill on a thirty two year old injury prone winger would have been considered ridiculous. I really like gaborik too, especially how well he fit with kopitar but I hope this doesn't come back and bite us on the arse. He's a bit of a luxury item. We're built from the net out but with half a d core of geriatrics.

3 years 5.7 mil. I see him making less to compete on a cup team where he just won.

I'm gonna disagree on Mitchell. He signed with LA because LA offered a longer term contract. SJ and Vancouver were only offering shorter term deals. DL offered an extra year.

Isn't it pretty much a slam-dunk that he'll sign with us? I'm just as sure as I was of Richards not getting bought out that Gabby will re-sign with us.

Having said that, I do believe he'll get something in the neighborhood of 3@5.5 or 4@5.2

Well... I'm still hopeful but with each passing day I feel less and less confident. If it hits June 25th its' pretty much over because then other teams can start their negotiations and shower him with money.

T-4 days.
